On this 78th Old-Timers’ Day, Tommy John shares a message to his fans, former teammates, and the Yankees organization as he battles health issues from his home in Bradenton, Florida.
Something I realized when I became a parent is there's a window of time when your parents are healthy, your kids are little, and everyone gets to experience multiple generations of family spending time together. Cherish this time and don’t take a single moment of it for granted.
Lou Brock said this one time in spring training. Lefties will always lift up their big toe on a pick and stays grounded when he goes home. Here is an example.
A few of my key hitting concepts:
1) Be really good w/ 2 strikes & hitting the fastball
2) #1 thing to train: Swing Decision Making
3) Own the middle 10" of the plate
4) Create a long hitting zone
5) Focus on ball flight

Baseball rewards the ones who keep showing up.
The ones who put in the extra reps when no one’s watching.
The ones who fail, adjust, and come back stronger.
Hard work doesn’t always show up right away…
But when it does — it’s everything you dreamed of.
Keep going. The game always gives back.

🚨 Steven Kwan: Swing Breakdown
• Stable & balanced on the back leg
• Soft landing on the stride
• Move the body & hands will follow
⭐️ Very simple approach to a great swing. Balanced, stay back, and let the lower body drive the hands forward.
Using single leg throws allows you to use reciprocal movement to generate rotation
you can see that when the throwing arm is pulled back the opposite leg moves forward, generating a stretch through the middle and creating a TON of separation
