Perhaps the craziest thing I have seen tagging wildlife camera images yet - this black bear is missing an ENITRE ARM, but seems to otherwise be totally fine! 😱 what on earth happened to this guy?
People often wonder how we can tell that dinosaurs' ears were located behind their skulls. The answer is simple: we have preserved inner ear bones (stapes) showing this. The position of the stapes is similar to most modern reptiles, like this Bengal monitor for example.

There are no two ways around it: wolves are tough animals that sustain and survive many traumatic injuries and ailments.
In June, we collared Wolf V096, a lone wolf. It was abundantly clear that V096 had some eye-related trauma that gave him an alien-like appearance. (1/12)
So we all know the arms are too big and the pubis is missing but what is suprising to me is the biggest problem seems to be that the scapula is missing or reduced/misplaced. Other than that it is mostly pretty good.
