I like women with unnecessary knowledge. She can tell you which wine goes with dinner, why your houseplant is dying, the name of an old R&B sample, and exactly which cousin cannot be trusted with information. Well-rounded education…”
"A woman should not have to calculate whether an individual officer, security guard, or venue manager will consider her clothing sufficiently “decent” before entering a public space. Clear law protects not only citizens, but also those tasked with enforcing it," - ✍️ @NashBishumba. READ: https://t.co/VdMaAUn1WS via @NewTimesRwanda
An apology is not even asking a lot tbh.
Apologies is required, it is what the victims are owed.
Apology is very bare minimum.
Apology is the only accountability.
And then, ACTIONABLE CHANGE. Niko kazi ntakandi.
@Rwandapolice As mentioned, you have created a ripple effect in society. These are highlights of our current issues as women And you opened this door, therefore you need to close it.
You must do so to protect women and girls who should never face this kind of humiliation.
Regardless of me being in the room, my stance remains the same & I still have the same expectation for the authorities and gov’t institutions to SPEAK OUT!
We still EXPECT ACCOUNTABILITY! The silence is still deafening!
All of this is disheartening. I am sad for us women because literally for how long must we have to prove and explain our humanity and beg for accountability where it’s due.
Anyways day 5. Clock in!!
It is true. It wasn’t a conference but a conversation.
We aired out our grievances and held several institutions & the authorities accountable for their actions. HOWEVER, we still stand firm on the fact that they have to make an official statement. Which I also await.
Guys can we acknowledge Mutijima Bryon(ogofficial1) that man proved that there are still good men out here , raising their voices to spread the word! And the way he is advocating for the women ! We see you Bryon ! Uri Imfura cyane🙌🏾
@berabose_
I would like to remind that, anyone involved in such acts of #TFGBV is advised to immediately stop the unlawful conduct otherwise will be held accountable and punished in accordance with the law.
@Rwandapolice. Are you waiting for us to get raped in the streets of Kigali to do or say something? I’m actually so scared to leave the house because I can’t trust what I’ll be met with outside. This is disturbing to say the least.
As i have said @Rwandapolice you have not only empowered abusers but have promoted rape culture heavily.
@RwandaGender you don’t even want to speak on gender mainstreaming programs particularly positive masculinity? How is this failure supposed to be borne by women alone. Why?
You call upon us to defend our country from inyangarwanda and when we need answers from you we are met with silence? For 3 days you have absolutely nothing to say when we are seeing women being harassed?? Absolute BS. The foot will stay on the gas!!! #Freethewomen
