Congratulations to our senior scientist, Dr. Marina Herwerth, on being awarded the Olga Mayenfisch Foundation Grant! 👏 This grant will support her amazing research on the role of microglia in the recovery of astrocytopathy-driven neuroinflammatory lesions in the adult brain.
Big congrats to these three lab members!
👏 Matthias Wyss for receiving the Hartmann-Müller foundation grant!
👏 Chaim Glück for securing the UZH postdoc grant!
👏 Jacqueline Condrau for winning two conference poster awards!
We were delighted to host Shane Liddelow in our lab and institute this week. Thank you for your visit and the inspiring discussions! @LiddelowSA@UZH_IPT

🧠 Big Role of Tiny Blood Vessels🩸
Tiny vessels connecting arteries together can rescue brain after stroke!
@mohamad_elamki and @susewegener found out that in stroke patients and mice, these tiny vessels (collaterals) regulate reperfusion after stroke. By controlling blood flow recovery, collaterals play an important role to avoid deleterious and futile recanalization.
