Observation: People who achieve big and audacious goals are rarely obsessed with achieving big and audacious goals.
They are focused on the path, on the process. They weather ups and downs. They take small and consistent steps, knowing big gains come as a byproduct that.
A parent has over 32850 hours of influence into a child's life (if only averaging 5 hours a day for 18 years.) A high school coach has less than 1200 hours to influence a student athlete. (Less than 3 hours a day/season.) Thank you coaches for working your tails off to help kids!
Everyone talks about diet, exercise, and sleep.
But a 4th component of health could add up to 10 years to your life.
According to the National Institute of Aging, social isolation & loneliness has the same impact on mortality as smoking.
Remember: reach out to your friends.
As we approach the official start of high school T&F season in many states, it's time for this annual reminder of the mindset that creates great performances. I've never seen it said better than this. Thanks, @trackjenny.
@Bradgmx95 Mx2002 Ricky Carmichael was awesome and underrated. The career was cool getting on diff teams. Heck even Jeremy McGrath sx 2000 for n64 had bikes with diff power bands and you could do manual shifting to go really fast stayin in the right gear. Had track maker too!
New coaches often think the keys to success are:
• Having the right workouts
• Having perfect places to train
• Having a sophisticated weight room plan
What it actually is:
• Getting enough kids out for the team
• Keeping kids injury-free
• Having fun
