@bigthumbsupdude@aleabitoreddit True. And I agree with him. But you cannot ignore the timing. He knew this months ago but decided to post publicly now to beat their stocks more down. Smart play, but slightly evil. That’s all. But I do agree that most AI debt won’t be recovered.
It could be. But his profitability is not with Grok or the data center part of SpaceX, it’s starlink that is profitable. Just to be clear. SpaceX is doing this the right away. It uses its profitability to build its data center business which is why it is a much better company than Coreweave or Nebius. My comment was mainly against the claim that they beat OpenAI. That part is definitely not true.
@cocoleenftw@b1rkh0ff I honestly thought the same until he replied that SpaceX won’t buy any of them. I think he doesn’t need to buy them, he just need to get their contracts.
Pretty much.
As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers.
SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue.
That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.
