Right now as it happens ... no assurance is given and Sr. Manager hae been disappeared from the scene and junior staffs are trying to make fool of the stranded passengers since 5 pm at Gauhati Airport. Passengers are not ready to go to hotel unless assurance is given for flight arrangement for tomorrow, which @airindia management seems not taking up seriously.

@Manipur_Police confirms that the combined forces of the India and Manipur govts are currently under heavy attack from #KukiMilitants #KukiTerrorists since early morning of 17 January 2024. The attacks started at 3:30 am at the IRB post near Kondong Lairembi, Moreh while the security men were sleeping.

In a video a #KukiMilitant can be seen training an assault weapon at the Casper army vehicle threatening the security personnel inside.

UPDATES:
- A security personnel is confirmed dead as of now.
- Three IRB personnel also sustained injuries in the attacks. One of the injured persons was identified as Md. Kamal Hussain of Sangaiyumpha village of Thoubal district, a report said.

- Currently, the roads to Tengnoupal district are being blocked by the Kuki community.

Think of the 'Tamil Sangams' and the Bengali led 'Renaissance of India', only then you will realise that you are the only one who is desperately seeking to make yourself 'important' at the expense of your own community heritage/lineage. In contrast to this, 'ideas' such as 'Kukiland' or 'Zale'n-gam' etc are aspirations at best, and a mythical entity at worst. Your degrees and money you get paid for the little game you play here can't change these facts!

A speech cut short, for it doesn't suit the communal discourse that serves sacterian agenda? But a sensible speech nonetheless, something that comes as a relief after some of those so-called 'progressive' people from outside Manipur have earlier joined the communal bandwagon to perpetuate the conflict with their communal and ethnicized harangue as informed discourse.

Incidentally, much before the present crisis, for decades, I have been pleading to address the issue of 'development' - especially the real or perceived differential patterns - in different regions in the state of Manipur as well as socio-economic, educational status of different communities in the state WITHOUT COMMUNALISING (or 'ethnicizing') the discourse. Even lobbied with successive govts to institute a high level committee, on the line of Sachar Committee, so that there's an informed discussion to counter the propagandist campaigns of the communal and sacterian politics, and also to take corrective measures, if there is any legimate and factual discrepancies.

Simultaneously, on many occasions, I have sought to draw the attention to the extractive economy that comes with the neo-liberal wave sweeping across the region, and accompanying militarization of the region, and to face it collectively without wasting energy and time on self-inflicted 'ethnic' politics!

We ought to reflect on what this violent crisis means for people in the region called India's North East...
