"I will watch but not engage in the fandom". It's creating a healthy relationship to the content you consume according to needs.

Just because we made it out does not mean there are no errors, and our design has a price. It's s give and take, in exchange for our cognitive capacity we have deficiencies.

@baroquerational @_TRAMMY_ I respect fanfic that actually takes the source material and expand on the story, character and themes. Unfortunately that is not what most fic writers are doing. Fanfic has a place when it knows it's place.

@sightlyfixated @AviaryArt @emnide And the reason why I was able to do that is because I did not "try" to do depth, because if I did it would have failed. I just imitated the content of the image, which has depth. I did not learn of this until I read a book, but I think it's a good exercise for non-artists.

One useful way to turn off the abstraction is by making an eye unidentifiable as an eye to the brain, and you have several tricks for that, such as turning an image upside down. When I did this I was taken aback by how I was able to do depth

@ShitpostRock When someone says they want to draw but can't I need to ask them for how long did they try. Most say five to ten minutes. Few say over three hours. A five minute time will give you a five minute output. A good piece needs that much amount of time.

To help you retain you need to integrate information and connect ideas, so a method like Mindmapping or Zettelkasten can help too.
