Michael Jordan says he hasn’t played basketball in years, rented a house at the Ryder Cup & owner wanted him to make a free throw while owner’s grandkids watched. Perfect Jordan story, he was nervous on the shot because he didn’t want to let the kids down:
#orioles recall RHP Yennier Cano, select contract of RHP Corbin Martin from Triple-A Norfolk. He will wear No. 48. Placed LHP Keegan Akin (left shoulder inflammation) on the 15-day Injured List, retroactive to July 1. Designated RHP Matt Bowman for assignment.
One of my all-time favorite Aggie athletes. From Blue Bell, Pennsylvania and the grandson of an Aggie Yell Leader who was destined to play at A&M and usher in Blue Bell Park as a senior in 2012.
Current MLB great and former A&M signee Nathan Eovaldi called Rob Childress in the Summer of ‘08 and told him he was signing with Dodgers as 11th round pick out of Alvin HS. Days before Eovaldi’s call, Ross Stripling randomly walked into Rob’s office with his dad on a visit to A&M business school, asking if he could walk on that fall as a freshman. There was not initially space on the Aggie roster for Stripling, but Eovaldi’s surprising decision, which really shocked Childress, opened up a roster spot for the fall. New A&M assistant coach Justin Seely was sleeping on Childress’ couch that summer during his transition from Texarkana College. Seely recruited Stripling hard to Texarkana. Childress asked Seely if Ross was good enough to take a real chance on and Seely vouched for Stripling.
The rest is history.
Strip’s fall ERA was about 8.00 but Rob kept him on for the spring and he turned into one of A&M’s all-time best arms. He took a Perfect Game into the 8th inning of his Major League Debut ... he made an All-Star team with the Dodgers ... just a solid, solid career for one of the great stories and great people to come through Aggieland!
P.S. - This is my favorite story that I ever wrote at TexAgs. One of those wild baseball happenings that only tend to happen in this sport. Read when you get a chance...

🚨FRIEDBERG: "60% of middle class household's net worth is in their home. Only 10% is in owning the S&P 500, index funds, whatever in their retirement accounts.
By creating this American dream around housing and allowing the Federal government to provide loans on housing, we've increased the cost of housing and created a destructive housing bubble that reduced people's exposure to participation in productive value creation like the ownership of businesses.
Instead, we've stored our net worth in a house and in order to keep the economy and the social structure stable, we've created policies that allowed the continuation of the growth in the value of houses so people feel that their net worth is incrementing, and that's unfortunately very unnatural."
When a company, in this case United Healthcare, attacks its critics, the probability that it has committed fraud or is guilty of a crime increases substantially. This morning the DOJ announced an investigation into UNH’s Medicare billing practices. The DOJ did not do this lightly.
My psychological short here is paying off and I would avoid this stock. When you find two cockroaches, it is almost a certainty that there are many more. And a half a trillion market cap for a health insurer makes no sense. I expect that there are many whistleblowers who have shared their work with the government and that more will be inspired to do so.
And yes, UNH still has not apologized to @EPotterMD.
Pete Hegseth kicked off his day in Germany training with the elite Green Berets of 1/10 SFG, one of the U.S. Army’s most formidable Special Forces units.
Never seen a US Secrtary of defense do this before .
Nobody applies leverage like Trump. Nobody.
I am an advocate of free trade on a principled level when it doesn't threaten key national industries and national security (which is why we should tariff China). In a vacuum, trade wars are not good or easy to win.
BUT Trump saying he likes tariffs in order to demonstrate commitment in a game of chicken ("You want to do a trade war? Fine! I love trade wars! Let's play!"), and thus prying a massive concession from the Mexican government on that basis is a masterful use of economic leverage.
Must Watch: If you don't know, Tez Johnson and Bo Nix are BROTHERS.
Bo Nix’s family brought Tez in as one of their own and raised him with an open heart.
Tez is a fantastic athlete and young man; this story is extraordinary.

🚨🇺🇸 HOWDY, ELON: TEXAS A&M EYES 'AGGIE LOOP' TUNNEL PROJECT WITH BORING CO.
Texas A&M is considering a partnership with Elon's Boring Co. to create the "Aggie Loop," an underground transit system aimed at reducing campus congestion.
The $250M-$350M project would feature 9 stations and zero-emissions vehicles, connecting key locations across campus.
Officials say it's "very feasible" but will require careful planning.

People say real estate is passive….hmmm…not so much.
This week's guest needs no formal introduction - Barry Sternlicht, Chairman & CEO of Starwood Capital Group.
Barry and his team has a built a juggernaut that now manages over $120B in assets across the globe. In tomorrow’s episode he tells stories that most have never heard about how they did it.
In this clip, he tells one of the wildest real estate stories I’ve heard on how he negotiated to sell the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
The founder of Jimmy Johns, Jimmy Liautaud, is a multi-billionaire
In this clip, he shares the company's AMAZING origin story and the events that led up to his first sandwich shop
After graduating 2nd to last in his class, his father gave him a choice to either join the Army or start a business. *Liautaud struggled at school, as he was hindered by dyslexia*
Liautaud chose to start a business, and his father agreed to loan him a small amount in exchange for a stake in the business
After some initial struggles, research and experimentation, Liautaud opened his first sandwich shop in 1983 at the age of 19
At the end of 2022, Jimmy John's had almost 3,000 locations and is one of the most successful sandwich chains in the world
I highly recommend this clip for any entrepreneur looking to be inspired and urge people to watch the full interview w/ Theo Von
