GADAFFI SUPPORTED IRISH ANTI-COLONIAL RESISTANCE
June 7 marks the birthday of Muammar Gaddafi, a figure remembered across much of the Global South for his support of anti colonial struggles.
From the 1970s to the 1990s, Libya under Gaddafi backed movements including the ANC in South Africa, the PLO in Palestine, SWAPO in Namibia, and the Polisario Front in Western Sahara.
In this clip, Gaddafi describes the Irish struggle as a just anti colonial cause and says his mission was to oppose colonialism wherever it existed. He argues that the fight against colonialism was not confined to any one country, but was a global struggle that connected people across continents.
The 1841 population of Rathlin Island was 1010, by 1861 it was 453. The Gages, a landowning family, chartered a ship the Napier, taking a large contingent to St John, New Brunswick, while others travelled to Quebec and Maine with industrial cities in England another destination.
There is no 2 state solution.
Israel is a fake country built on other ppl’s land & has murdered hundreds of thousands of civilians.
They have no right to exist.
Iran launched approximately 10 ballistic missiles toward northern Israel in multiple salvos over the past hour. According to initial assessments, all missiles were either intercepted by Israeli air defenses or landed in open areas, with no immediate reports of direct impacts or significant damage. Over the weekend Iran also targeted Kuwait & Bahrein with missiles as Iran’s Hezbollah proxy continued to target Israel.
Iran is intent on continuing conflict. It is also immune from criticism by the Irish government which is intent on continuing demonisation of Israel
All the news outlets will now report a “wave of missiles”, “a barrage of rockets”, and “bombardment” because Israel is being struck.
The sanitising language of “targeted attacks”, “military action”, and “operations” will suddenly disappear.
This years European press prize.
"114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest."
And the EU still arms these monsters
Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write.

I expect an elected rep to do better than to be seen at the front of a crowd including masked men, with said crowd shouting abuse at a march raising funds for ‘Gaza Paediatric Initiative’ & ‘Water Project’.
Kids & water.
Over £4000 raised so far. https://t.co/gbeVoUfzuz
This coming from someone who eulogises the British army. Who thinks the British army should be given access to schools to indoctrinate children & whitewash their murderous image. How can anyone take a word this person says seriously?
At the start of this week, there was much warmth and genuine appreciation for a moment between two elected reps as they had a hug. That's how I do my politics every day. That's what everyone wants. As we end the week, the consequences of other political words and actions are laid bare. No one wants hate and if you have hate in your heart, politics isn't for you. We will only ever move forward and create a great place for us all if we respect each other. We absolutely do not have to agree on everything and we won't, but respect and decency are an essential. If you can't provide that, step away.
@fiannafailparty I wonder what the republicans of 1926 would make of the party today? The party today is closer to the DUP in terms of their stance on reunification & an end to British oppression in the north-east than even @FineGael is.
A warm welcome to Scarva for the 100 or so participants of the 'Great March for GAZA' walk this afternoon.
'You can stick your Palestine up your....'
Well done to Unionist elected reps and community reps for their leadership with keeping things peaceful 👏🏼
It's not surprising that those who support the continued existence of ‘are wee colony’ are so full of hatred that they'd object to a pro-humanity & anti-genocide march. It is surprising, however, that a bowl of soup a few generations back would make you side with such hatred.
