NEW poll shows a Democratic socialist born in 1997 leading against a veteran Democrat who first took office in 1997.
The CO-1 Democratic primary poll shows 29-year-old Melat Kiros ahead of Diana DeGette, 41-36.
*38-point-swing* toward Kiros since March.https://t.co/symFCNBKRo
On June 19, 1865, African American communities in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom from slavery — two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation took effect.
For 161 years, Juneteenth has been a day of remembrance for the freedom that was delayed. It is also a celebration of the joy and resilience that flourished despite that delay.
The contributions of African Americans, whose struggle for freedom shaped our nation, are immeasurable. Yet too many Black families continue to bear the brunt of an affordability crisis that has pushed them out of the neighborhoods and communities they've built.
True freedom has a tangible impact on daily life: the ability to afford housing, earn a living wage, put food on the table, support a family, and create a future for generations to come.
As we celebrate today, we must recommit ourselves to ensuring this freedom is fully realized.
Happy Juneteenth, New York City.
On Juneteenth, we reflect on this country's original sin of stealing the labor and denying the humanity of Black people to accrue white wealth.
We also celebrate the courageous struggle for freedom that emancipated millions. We continue that struggle today. 1/2
Comrades and travelers, I’m calling you to get you out to canvass and phonebank.

I am calling on @ReynosoBrooklyn and @ReElectNydia to apologize immediately for maligning Claire for her suspicions that new SuperPAC money was being organized by pro-Israel actors. Those suspicions were reasonable from the start, and now turn out to have been right on the money.
Reynoso hitting my mailbox with a YUGE foot-long (!) mailer evoking “transplant” tropes and claiming Claire Valdez is supported by dark MAGA money.
Shameful stuff from the Reynoso camp.
As someone who has voted on the @NYWFP line for numerous elections, their party leadership’s conduct in NY7 will make me reconsider whether they are in fact, any different than the centrist Democrats they once proudly confronted.
huge self-own for a “Working Families Party” to amplify that a union member elected to union leadership (& notably, the NY State Assembly) has “no record of accomplishment”
FYI to @NYWFP: union contracts have accomplished way more for working families than any political party
@socialconcarne Door responses plus being outside in general reflect this from my perspective.
Last year’s mayoral was the sole sociopolitical event of the summer and this year’s much more crowded.
0 - Cristiano Ronaldo has now gone 10 consecutive major tournament games without scoring for Portugal (FIFA World Cup/EURO):
33 shots
11 on target
0 goals
Drought.
In 2024, this hedge fund manager donated $48k to a PAC that put me and other DSA/WFP candidates on a "Wall of Shame" for demanding a ceasefire.
The goal then, as now: impose a political cost for speaking out against the genocide in Gaza.
Didn't work then, won't work now.
The massive leads of @aparnafordc and @Janeese4DC only further prove that, despite what corporate Democrats and MAGA Republicans like to believe, Zohran's win was not a blip.
Working people across the US are organizing together for democratic socialists!
BREAKING: @UAW Constitutional Convention just approved a resolution in support of running our own members for office and year round political work to fight for working class
Easiest way to start is our 12 canvasses between now and E-day for @claireforny

Outside Iran v New Zealand @FIFAWorldCup opener for both, I spoke with protesters against the Iran regime, fans of the Iran team.
They agreed on their view of Iran's government, but not on whether to support the national team in this tournament.
