To be very, very clear, for 250,000 girls and women to have been raped all across England proper would necessarily REQUIRE that the British government condoned it. These are tantamount to crimes against humanity. The British government owes NOT ONLY the people of the UK an explanation, but the ENTIRE world. The world needs to understand these depths and depravity of these unspeakably horrendous crimes that were ALLOWED to be perpetrated on 250,000 young girls. This is not just a civil or administrative matter. These are felonious crimes against all of us. These young girls and young women matter. Their lives and their families matter. The British government had better understand that stonewalling and hiding will not make this go away. Grotesque and barbaric crimes against 250,000 young citizens took place on your soil. The whole world has seen the evidence, the evidence you cowardly tried to cover up and deny. I would strongly suggest you had better make this right. You owe the world an explanation on what you allowed to occur to 250,000 very vulnerable young girls. The sheer number of these rapes rival what occurs during wars. These girls were innocent civilians. Stop being cowards and do what’s right, what’s required. You cannot be considered a decent, civilized society and then allow barbaric crimes like this to occur against your own children. The world wants answers and I would suggest you start providing them….

In 2019, a retired firefighter turned metal detectorist was exploring a field in eastern England when he found this sapphire ring buried in the ground. After having it appraised, it turned out to be the ring of a powerful bishop named Hugh of Northwold from the 13th century.

Hugh of Northwold served as Bishop of Ely from 1229 until his death in 1254. He was one of the most influential church leaders in medieval England and oversaw the rebuilding of parts of Ely Cathedral, including work on the magnificent presbytery that still stands today.

The gold ring, set with a central sapphire and surrounded by smaller gemstones, likely symbolized both religious authority and social status. In the Middle Ages, bishops often wore elaborate rings as symbols of their office, and precious stones were believed to possess spiritual and protective qualities.

The discovery was officially recorded through Britain's Portable Antiquities Scheme, which documents archaeological finds made by members of the public.

More than 1.6 million archaeological objects have been recorded through the Portable Antiquities Scheme since its creation in 1997, making it one of the world's largest databases of voluntarily reported historical finds.
