@Vakken1 They’re treating themselves as a backup religion. Become dissatisfied as a Catholic and you’re supposed to just fall back uncritically on their communion.
@TikiBro67@gansotonto73 How so? Because of the excommunication? It’s not like one is outside the Church, and the other is extra super duper outside the Church.
@cath_menarion SSPX by a long shot. The carve out to attend is more liberal than with EO. Also, they may be schismatic now, but it’s a comparison with schismatic heretics.
@Amadeus9w@klautaum@AL_J82 No, not really. There are a handful of ex cathedra parts within Vatican II. There isn’t much disagreement about it. Because there are very few people who even attempt to read the documents and look closely enough to see them.
@ClassicalTheis@JudasMaccabeu10 Jude is correct. Not all professions of faith are infallible. Professions like this have been drawn up throughout the Church’s history. Especially in the earlier centuries it was common for local declarations to be drawn up, not promulgated by the pope.
@badatcatholic@CullumSmith I have no idea. I’m not a member of the SSPX. But the point still stands that new professions have been made throughout history.
@badatcatholic@CullumSmith Nothing contradictory between these two statements. Professions of faith, even newly created ones, have been made through the history of the Church.
@GregoryCaridi@NiwaLimbu1988 They released a declaration of faith just last month. Now this is a much more detailed declaration. These things go on independently of an ordination, just as they took place independently of an ordination in 2009-2012.
@GregoryCaridi@NiwaLimbu1988 The context is the doctrinal confusion and seen by them, remotely, over the course of decades. But more immediately, the discussions with Fernandez over the past months. Numerous attempts at doctrinal dialogue have taken place and stalled.
