@Demo4fhs My new manager turned out to be a narcissist. I told him projects work best if I am included in all the meetings with the stakeholders. He started leaving me out of meetings to be cruel but he did me a huge favor because I didn’t have to deal with him as much.
@Stopworkplacebu Manager shared a document that his manager told him not to share with anyone. The document outlined plans for the organization, including our department staffing. There was no position mentioned for me. I think he was trying to scare me that I would lose my job.
@Arkypatriot I think it’s hilarious that the Zoomers’ own parents, usually Gen X, are seldom the contrasting group for these kind of posts. Instead, it’s the Boomers, three generations earlier, used for comparison. Interesting.
@Autistic_Lauren That our neurochemical rewards such as dopamine are usually triggered in different situations than they are for allistic people. That means you can push us to copy you but those situations aren’t going to feel good if they don’t already. It’s not because we are being difficult.
@Versuhtyle I used to warm up or even cook meals from my Hot Logic Mini when I worked from an office. It can warm up leftovers or heat a frozen dinner in about an hour. It’s appx US $50 and with a car adapter can be plugged in on the go too.
@crousselle I noticed the difference when I moved to the DMV. I assumed that the Chinese food in New England was different due to where people came from in China. Years later, when I read about Joyce Chen’s Peking Ravioli, I realized it’s the delicious result of ingenuity by immigrants.
@MattBraynard I grew up in New England. It saddens me that I have no experience of eating at Pizza Hut despite growing up in the 70s and 80s. New England was—and probably still is—full of independent pizza restaurants and local chains. No Pizza Huts anywhere nearby.
@_CatintheHat@1goodtern I don’t recall which post, but someone mentioned the possibility of spreading ANDV globally via rodent populations. The virus in human waste from these cases could be picked up by rodents, which in turn could infect more humans and more rodents.
@libriscent They need the information to come from people who have high status in their group. That’s the heuristic they use to identify high-value information. Autistic people are often perceived as “out group” so that’s why they don’t seem ready yet.
@Autistic_Lauren They believe we will feel as good as they do if we mimic their behavior. They do not understand that people’s brains trigger neurochemical rewards differently, and not by choice.
@JonBbC_TechGeek If cars upgraded to HW4 can join the Robotaxi program, it could be worth it financially for Tesla to upgrade them. They could give a break on the upgrade cost or make it free if the owner agrees to participate in the Robotaxi fleet for a minimum amount of time/miles.
@heynavtoor Ohio State University has a required AI fluency program for undergraduates. The idea is to incorporate problem-solving and critical thinking with AI to complement the traditional education. Perhaps other universities will launch similar programs.
