So many survivors of trauma have autoimmune diseases or autonomic disorders because trauma affects the body and should be seen as ‘physical evidence’ of trauma. #trauma
National Children's Commissioner Anne Hollonds has released a statement on the importance of recognising children as victims of domestic, family and sexual violence in their own right. Read more here: https://t.co/TBGjefqGGQ
On this International Women’s Day, let’s acknowledge the millions of women & children labeled with mental illness after abuse, assault & violence, by a profession only now starting to recognise that women can be traumatised too #IWD https://t.co/2C6JwJlrsG @custodypeace @davtw2

In solidarity with & highlighting the vital work of @scarlettrfranks in bringing attention to the long-term impacts of child sexual abuse. Her insights shed light on the profound challenges survivors face. Must-read for anyone committed to understanding & supporting survivors.
This is not intended to be derisive or smart-aleck to anyone. but I would like to share a little personal history with the people in my dms (& others’ comments sections) contesting, questioning, or minimising the impacts of child sexual abuse on the victims.
Why isn't climate data included on every evening news bulletin and on every daily media site - prominently - along with the weather report or the daily share reports or whatever else people need to hear on a daily basis?
It's the greatest crisis facing humanity.

'Child maltreatment is also a gendered problem which disproportionately affects girls. Compared with boys, girls are significantly more likely to experience sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect.'

Misidentification of DFSV pereptrators by police is a growing problem. Lacking training & nuanced skills of recognising DFSV patterns of abuse, police are repeatedly charging victims - again punishing women for men's violence perpetrated against them.

It was wonderful to finally meet #DFSV Commissioner @MicaelaCronin in person, along with other QLD based @icos_aus co-founders, @DLulabele and @JanineRees3.
It was an opportunity to discuss ongoing collaborations to amplify the voices of victim-survivors and #livedexpertise.
Happy birthday to Mzinga who's just turned 1! Being so young, she's still mastering the intricacies of her trunk, which she's always loved to play with it! A small elephant with big character & so love for life, we couldn’t be more proud of her progress. https://t.co/L7Jw8DrJW6
Lawyers, judges & the fetid mess that is the family court. Complicit in the ongoing systemic & legal abuse of victim survivors of domestic violence; including children, who are victims in their own right. Zero idea. Zero insight. Zero empathy. Zero.
On the history and incredible advocacy and work of @icos_aus, @DLulabele talks about the drive to imbed voices of lived experience and expertise into policy decisions (and calls on the State to do this) and references the powerful statement that opens the National Plan @MonashGFV
