@jd10johnson I've just seen the post that's been circulating lately - my 5 year old son also has an aortic coarctation - would love to hear more about your journey with it and what limitations/considerations we should expect in the next few years.
Every time a school system pays some shyster to come in and peddle a BS alternative to discipline and accountability, the American public educational system gets worse. We've trained a generation of young people to believe that they are not responsible for their bad decisions.
Hey, @nike! My wife is a physician and dietitian, has four kids, is a track coach, and runs a busy household while maintaining great exercise and eating habits.
How about giving her an endorsement deal, instead of a skinny dude in lipstick?
I don’t know what NCAA Women’s Basketball or @espn has done different this year in their marketing, but for the first time ever I’m watching the women’s final four. Hopefully there’s a few more tuning in for the first time.
The lack of intensity (catch w/ burst and finish) is more concerning than them practicing catching a ball larger than a football. But as a @RazorbackFB fan, keep it up A&M!
@coachdeesmith Monday & Thursday : extra day of recovery in there but still gives a long weekend. Have been at a place that went Mon-Thurs 7:00-9:00, just felt like it wasn’t necessary so we only went 2 days/week and it’s worked great. Kids have jobs, some to pay bills, let them have a summer.
@coachdeesmith I told my wife I was going to have to stay off Twitter for a while so I don’t keep seeing this boat. She said, how much he want for it, after I told her she said “Well… buy it”
The goal of HS Athletics is for your child to learn how to be a better person, learn how to compete through tough times no matter what. Learn how to be corrected and improve daily. The goal is not an athletic scholarship, that’s a result of genetics mixed w/ tremendous work ethic
Don’t coach baseball anymore but in the last 5 years I can’t tell you how many times I’ve walked through and suggested to 15-17 yr olds to try holding their bat level at the top of the zone, only to get looked at like I know nothing and go back to a 45 degree bat angle.
Let’s talk about this. I love this image. Here’s what I see.
• Bat at the top of the zone.
• Head in-line with the bat.
• Playing with a broken right pinky finger.
• Left hand fingers gripping the bat.
When this happened in last nights game a lot of thoughts ran through my mind.
This game is so important to this young man and his country he’s playing with a broken bone. Japanese players work hard at bunting and bunting with two strikes is no big deal for a player like this who has had who knows how many reps doing it. But the biggest, and I’m sure most noticed thing, was his left hand fingers gripping the bat. I’m sure many will think, say and be adamant that this is WRONG with little to know thought that this guy is a professional at it and has done this more times than most combined. I got to play over in Japan for two season and this is how Japanese players are taught to hold the bat while bunting from day one. I think what most fail to realize is that just because it’s not how we were taught how to do it doesn’t mean it’s wrong. That’s ignorance.
I suggest stop thinking the way we learned is absolute and just start observing. Pay attention. Ask questions. Watch the little things. These guys are literally experts in their field and very deliberate with how they do things, how they talk about it, what they think and want to feel. So much to learn from just paying attention with an open mind.
Seriously though..
