He left Snookie the dog outside in the freeze until she died. Raul Rene Gonzalez Jr., 29, of Waseca did it in Rochester in January. Wind chill went well below zero the night of Jan 18. A witness found her frozen to the bottom of a metal cage with trauma on the underside. He told a witness she died Jan 19. Charged Aug 21 by summons, felony torture resulting in death and a misdemeanor for no food or shelter. Court Nov 5.

💗 JESSIE HAS WAITED LONG ENOUGH.

Jessie (#G26864) has spent far too much of her life waiting for someone to choose her. Rescued from Georgia as a puppy, she found a home but just three months later, she was returned because her family felt her puppy energy was “too much.”

Now, after growing up in our adoption center, Jessie is struggling. She’s declining in the shelter environment, and we know she needs out. She needs someone to step up for her and she needs it now.

Jessie may be shy at first, but with patience, kindness, and a few treats, her sweet personality comes shining through. She’s loving, affectionate, cuddly, and full of kisses once she feels safe. ❤️ She does well with other dogs, too, though a meet-and-greet would be required to make sure it’s the right fit.

🐾 Jessie would do best with:
• Experienced dog owners
• A quiet suburban or rural home
• Older children (14+)
• Someone patient who will give her time to decompress and build confidence

Can’t adopt? Fostering Jessie could be just as life-changing. Getting her out of the shelter and into a calm home could give her the fresh start she desperately needs.

Marnie needs a home (or foster) with a family who have large breed experience just because she’s a big girl, so has strength behind her if she does pull on lead, but she mostly walks very well on lead and listens well to asking her to slow up if she’s getting a bit excited, but when she does pull to something excited, she will need someone confident and capable of handling her.
Marnie is fully housetrained, is very quiet and settled when she’s left on her own, and doesn’t chew, so we think she’ll be happy being left on her own for a few hours with no issues at all. She also travels well – what a good girl!! Marnie will be best suited to a pet free home at the moment.
Marnie has sadly had her ears ‘cropped’ at some point in her past – this makes her appearance much harsher than the reality of what she is really like and we really hope people can see past this and see her for the loving big softie that she really is.

They left a German Shepherd dead in a cage.

Charles Lee Workman, 44, and Brittany Nicole Ice, 31, of Rivesville, West Virginia. Deputies got a well being call on August 10 because of the smell. A neighbor had already pulled a starving brown pit bull out of a crate and given it food and water.

Search warrant. Dead black German Shepherd still in a cage. A black and white cat wasted down to bone. Empty bowls. Feces on the floor.

Both charged with animal cruelty. Both sitting in the North Central Regional Jail.

You do not get to starve animals in a box and call it living. Make the charges stick.

➡️ Identify and arrest the perpetrators if evidence establishes their involvement.
➡️ Preserve CCTV/video/electronic evidence.
➡️ Conduct a proper veterinary post-mortem and forensic examination.
➡️ Investigate any threats or intimidation of witnesses/complainants.
➡️ Do not allow this case to disappear because the victim was voiceless.

Teddy trusted humans. Someone allegedly repaid that trust with unimaginable brutality.

A life was taken. Accountability must follow.
