Year 10-13 Performing Arts students were very lucky to have a workshop with Georgie from the wonderful @ThePaperBirds yesterday! They were introduced to some fantastic Verbatim devising techniques. We can't wait to see how this influences their own work ๐ญ @BeckfootSchool
Incredibly proud CEO of @BeckfootTrust Over 130 colleagues working together across 4 sites to deliver over 20 sessions. Golden thread of inclusion on purpose throughout. Appropriate challenge from @Angela__Browne. Intention alone is not enough. Thank you. What a team!

We discuss writing down answers, wait-times and cold-calling. He also taught me about formative prompts https://t.co/wxSFMNIY8A
@BecLParkinson@WALKTHRUs_5 Love this, Luke! Great to read about how this is working in your classroom. @BeckfootTL @Nikki__Sullivan you will love this too!
@MissJTowler @BeckfootTL @BeckfootHums Great to see the metacognition work in action! I love this kind of visualiser work - done well it has super impact! ๐
@MrsW2022@MrTs_NQTs Welcome the profession, and to the wonderful world of #edutwitter! I'm sure you'll find lots of help, ideas, and support here. Best of luck with SD too ๐
@MissT1302 Have you spoken to SLT about this? There may well be lots they can do to ease the pressure for you. Nobody should feel like this about their work. Teaching is tough, and it takes strength to ask for help, but with the right support its totally doable and so worth it! Best of luck
Brilliant bit of advice re the value of establishing/automating routines, and how its about playing the long game. Great for teachers at all levels, but particularly those ECTs feeling like they're never going to get there! You will!
Routines can be powerful tools for learning.
However, they take time and effort to establish, and often lead to an initial dip in performance. During this phase, it can be tempting to give up.

Finally, always leave school thinking about something good that happened that day. There will always be something! Give yourself a fresh start each morning (like you would with your students) and never dwell on what didn't go so well. You've all got this!!

So many heartbreaking posts on here this week from new teachers worried about behaviour issues, and being seen as failures.
Please remember that you are less than 2 weeks in and nobody expects you to be perfect. Behaviour is tricky, but you WILL get there if you remain

clear, consistent, and positive. Easier said than done, I know, but not impossible. Look to your mentors, look to your faculty colleagues, and your SLT for support. We've all been there, and we know how hard it can be. Asking for help is NOT a weakness. It shows you care!
