I’m so sorry. Prayers for your husband and you. I see the sadness in your face and hear it in your voice. Millions of us wish you and your husband God’s speed. It’s so difficult. Stay strong.
I didn’t want to dive into this but I just want to say that postpartum depression is real and BRUTAL for Moms who go through it. Hormones play a huge role in this but the other factors aren’t discussed enough. As a society, many women have less tight knit community support now than women had in previous generations where there were a lot of multigenerational households and VERY tight family units.
Another issue is the overprescribing of dangerous psych drugs. The compound effects of not having enough support, months or years sleep deprivation and dangerous drugs can be horrific. I also think it’s hard for men to understand it because we’ll never experience it. It’s why I’ve stayed out of the subject until now.
Too many are conflating the Clancy case with the legitimacy of postpartum depression and I don’t think the two conversations belong together. What Clancy did was an extraordinarily evil act that she doesn’t deny doing. She should receive the absolute maximum punishment. Her doctors deserve some culpability too for the drugs in my view. Yes, there are also some women out there who are starved for attention and using the case for attention. We shouldn’t let those women delegitimize the terrible time many women go through during postpartum depression.
For many of them it’s the most out of control, and shameful they’ll ever feel. It’s bad enough without having this evil woman attached to what they’re going through. And no, most of them don’t want to hurt their kids. But many do want to hurt themselves… So I think we should figure out better ways to support them and not attach their experience to this Clancy case.
Crisis pregnancy centers that provide aftercare are a great place to start. Find one that provides aftercare and support them. Also, try to be there for young couples who have kids. Offer to help for a night so they can get dinner, to drop off meals, etc. Those little things mean the world to them.
I think a lot of the psychological issues we see in society are a direct reflection of us replacing "old ways" with modernity where we’re more detached in a physical sense than ever before, while mentally processing more online than previous generations. This is a bad combo for a lot of people. Some of the old ways were the best ways. We need tighter family units and better community overall.
That’s all I have to contribute to this topic. I’ll never experience it but I feel terribly for the mothers who do. God loves you and your baby, and I promise you, in time, it will get better. As men if we see a woman in our family going through it, it’s very easy to want to check out because irrational emotions make no sense to us. Don’t do it. Get closer, remind them they’re loved and get them more support. It will pass but it’ll pass much sooner if you show up.
🚨#BREAKING: A man who was driving home from work, found an elderly woman was FACE DOWN in the middle of the road in a puddle..
...he pulled over, sprinted to her and helped her get up and likely saved her life
The man's name is Ryan Carter.
He was driving home from work in Martin County, Florida, when he saw something in the road that didn't look right.
It was an elderly woman. She'd hit a water-filled pothole with her walker and gone down face-first into it.
She was still strapped into the seat of her rolling walker. Face down. In the water.
Nobody else had stopped.
Ryan had recently taken a class on Florida's Good Samaritan law.
So before he touched her, he started recording on his glasses. Not for clout. To protect her, and to protect himself, so he could help her the right way.
Then he got down next to her and asked what she needed.
She couldn't move… and she still didn't want to be a burden to anybody. 💔
So he stayed calm, talked her through it, counted her down, and lifted her out from under her arms.
He got her seated. He pushed her away from the hole.
Then he told her he was going to get her a cup of water.
He drove her home himself.
Then he CALLED HER LATER to make sure she was okay.
"I saw somebody in a desperate situation, and I just wanted to be the hand that she could depend on."
When he got home, he mentioned it to his wife like it was nothing. She watched the footage and realized he hadn't just helped that woman... he may have saved her life.
GOD BLESS THIS RYAN CARTER, THIS IS THE AMERICA I KNOW!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
People keep asking is there a difference between a Belgian Malinois and a German Shepherd.
A German Shepherd will assess the situation, decide whether intervention is necessary, and act accordingly.
A Malinois has already launched himself into the situation, knocked over your drink, gone swimming in a flood, and somehow ended up under a bridge at midnight.
German Shepherds think first.
Malinois wake up every morning and choose chaos.
Twenty years ago today this Ohio farm girl married a New York City Cabbie with no formal education and a sizable gambling debt. Raising a glass to Jenny and all smart girls who know a KEEPER when they see one!
She didn't just strangle them, she tortured them.
She sent her husband out of the house, lined them up against the wall, and then made her other children watch their sibling be choked to death before she moved on to them.
They must've been screaming for Mommy, & when that didn't stop her, they must've screamed for their Daddy.
Those children's last moments on Earth were literally staring into the pit of Hell & a demon wearing their mother's face stared back at them.
Every woman who donated to this monster should be thrown into an asylum to get the help they claim they & so many women desperately need. They can't be trusted, especially around children until they've rid themselves of this unholy brain rot.
Human dignity is not assigned by government, culture, court rulings, polling, or convenience.
It is given by God.
That means every life has value before the world sees it, before a child takes a first breath, before a mother knows what the future will hold.
We must protect mothers. We must protect babies. We must tell the truth with love.
From the womb to the tomb and beyond.

Was a commando/paratrooper in the IDF, as was my Saba (grandfather). Our family has fought in defense of our people for generations.
He’s been amazing with my mother during this difficult time.

German Shepherd puppies are basically a scam.
They lure you in with those ears, oversized paws, and innocent little head tilts. Then they take over the couch, follow you into every room, and somehow convince you that personal space was always overrated.
Then they grow up and become your protector, your shadow, your best friend… and still the biggest baby in the house.
Best breed. I’m not accepting appeals.
Marrying him is an absolute dream come true. An incredible man, a magical day, and love and memories I will carry with me forever. Fun fact: there were 5 engaged couples at our wedding! As my husband said at the rehearsal dinner, the state of the marital union is strong. Here’s to love! 💕
This @nytimes op-ed completely misses the point on the purpose of marriage and children and completely misrepresents my views in the process. The entire article is laced with viewing family through the lens of money and career as if those things bring fulfillment and purpose. When you’re on your death bed, your money and your career won’t be whispering in your ear “I love you” as you take your last breath. The material goods and fortune of this world mean nothing when we go to our eternal resting place.
The author also conveniently leaves out the part of my Hillsdale commencement speech where I said “marry young, not rushed, but young.”
We serve a God of order and when you live a life ordered there’s a double portion of grace. Meaning marriage first, then kids, and everything else. Timing matters because life is shorter than you might think, and you never know what could happen. The point is, don’t put it off. Don’t rush it or force it if it’s not right, but don’t put it off.
I say this from a place of personal reflection. My marriage with Charlie and our babies are the biggest blessings of my life. I was 32 when I married Charlie, which in my mind is neither young to start a family or old. You just run up against statistics at that point and it just so happened to be the Lord’s timing and He still blessed us with two beautiful children. But I wish we met and were able to start our life and family together much sooner.
There is no such thing as perfect timing to have kids. Financial struggles are a part of life, but the problem is a lot of Americans are self-surviving, not self-sacrificing, and they expect to live a very distinct lifestyle based on what they see online. When Charlie encouraged young people to have more kids than they can afford, he wasn’t saying to recklessly bring a child into this world and have them on welfare. He was saying children aren’t a luxury item to have once you meet a certain tax bracket threshold. You don’t need a mansion in order to build a family.
It’s easy when you’re young to think that you have all the time in the world, but it’s a hard fact of life and science that that’s simply not the case. If you've met your person and you’re checking off boxes based on societal expectations of dating for a couple years, then a long engagement, then adjusting to married life before having children, you’re wasting valuable time. Getting pregnant in your late 30s and 40s is usually a lot harder than in your late 20s. Not always, but it’s a hard reality for many couples.
The inverted priorities of our current culture encourages women to believe that getting married and having children are weights on an otherwise rich and carefree existence. And yet, young Americans have never felt less happy or carefree. Children are not an obstacle, they're a gift from the Lord. They give life so much more meaning than you could ever imagine. When we stop looking at marriage and children as barriers to a happy life, maybe then there’ll be progress in this country.
