Here’s my full story. . . ✍️

I have been studying climate and energy for almost seven years.

Before I started all of this, I was a casual believer in the mainstream narrative that global warming is entirely our fault, that it is a serious problem, and that we need to radically eliminate fossil fuels from the energy mix. My dad and I would get into arguments about it because he was very critical of the sounding alarm, whereas I was not.

In elementary and middle school, I had science teachers who told me that New York City would be underwater within 20 years.

I was panic-stricken. 😱

In December 2015, I remember it being 75° on Christmas Eve while sitting in the candlelight service at my church in Hamilton, VA. It was hot—there was no A/C. We were sweating. And, I thought that the warm spell was unprecedented. Where did the cold, snowy Christmases go? While unusual, as I would later find out, we had warm Decembers in 1889, 1964, 1965 and 1982, and apart from the 1960s, Decembers aren’t as snowy in the mid-Atlantic as I thought.

My memory was inaccurate.

Then, in 2017 came Hurricane Harvey. From the media headlines, I was under the impression that it was the worst hurricane to ever make landfall in the U.S. Little did I know that we have had far more intense hurricane strikes and inland flooding in the past, such as the infamous Labor Day Hurricane in 1935 or Camille in 1969. In fact, the number of major hurricanes striking the U.S. have decreased by 50% since the 1930s.

At the time, I blindly accepted whatever was spoon-fed to me. 🥄

Sometime in late 2017, I came across @TonyClimate’s YouTube channel. He creates 5-10-minute videos presenting recent weather extremes in the historical context that legacy media fails to do. Through his videos, I learned about the Dust Bowl drought and heatwaves of the 1930s. I learned about the Mississippi River Flood of 1927, the worst in U.S. history. I learned about the hyperactive hurricane seasons of 1780, 1886 and 1933.

In November 2018, I downloaded Twitter / 𝕏 and by chance came across legendary meteorologist @BigJoeBastardi’s page. He studies historical weather patterns and uses those analogs to forecast the weather.

Their work sparked curiosity in me. I decided to go down the rabbit hole and took a close look at the data. I read through the IPCC reports, the peer-reviewed literature and I started to look at the data on extreme weather events. I got a meteorology degree. I saw a huge disconnect between what the evidence says and what the media and activist academics say. Only then did I begin to question what I was being taught.

And, what I have found is that the weather today is really no different than the weather observed 100 years ago. The Arctic was often ice-free during summer between 10,000 and 6,000 years ago. Polar bears have survived periods with little to no ice at the North Pole. There was less glacial ice across much of Europe and North America during the Medieval Warm Period than there is today.

Although I think we have contributed to global warming, the human condition has never been better than it is today, largely because of fossil fuels. The mental construct from climate alarmists that we are facing an “existential crisis” just isn’t scientifically supportable.

As I came to the other side, I began to face threats from climate activists. For three years, my professors would receive emails from people complaining about my views on climate and energy policy. I was threatened by people trying to get me expelled unless I “fell in line.”

I have been told that I am “dangerous and need to be stopped.”

They have one thing right.

I am dangerous.

And, I’m coming for them.
