🇵🇰On 22 March 2025, Mahrang Baloch was arrested alongside Beebow Baloch during a peaceful protest in Quetta. Her sister remembers waking to dozens of missed calls, rushing to Quetta, and walking into a home filled with dread.

They spent their first Eid visiting her in prison.
Today, one full year later, they are spending their third Eid without her.

This Eid, Mahrang marks her full year in prison, facing deteriorating health, which threatens to impair her mobility.
Her detention, and that of all arbitrarily detained Baloch activists, must end now.

The two Zahids from Lyari tell us everything we need to know about enforced disappearances in Pakistan. Zahid Ali, a 25-year-old rickshaw driver, was taken in broad daylight on 17 July 2025 while waiting for passengers at his stand. intelligence agencies abducted him along with his rickshaw. Seven months later, his seriously ill father still has no answers about where his son is or what he’s accused of.
Then on 27 January at 2 a.m., Zahid Barakzai, a well-known and respected figure from the same neighborhood, was forcibly abducted by state forces from his home. His whereabouts also remain unknown.
What connects these two men beyond their shared name and neighborhood? “Both are conscious and educated Baloch.”

I am gravely concerned by reports of the unlawful detention and apparent enforced disappearance of Balach Hassan and his brother Ehsan, sons of Muhammad Hassan Baloch, following a security operation conducted in Jiwani, district Gwadar, on 22 January 2026.

According to available information, security forces carried out a late-night raid on the family residence and apprehended both individuals without presenting any judicial warrants. Since their detention, the authorities have failed to disclose their whereabouts, causing severe distress to their family.

I urge the appropriate authorities to take immediate and transparent measures to address this matter and to release them without further delay.

They were taken from their home in Kohsar Bazaar, Jiwani, Gwadar, at around 1 am on the night between 21 and 22 January. Security personnel carried out the operation. Since then, their whereabouts remain unknown.

This incident reflects the ongoing pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. Such acts violate fundamental human rights and international law.

Baloch Voice for Justice demands the immediate disclosure of the brothers’ whereabouts and their safe release. The authorities must be held accountable and end this unlawful practice.

Last night approximately at 1 a.m. on 22 January, security personnel entered a residence in Kohsar Bazaar, Jiwani ,Gwadar and forcibly took away two brothers, Balach Hasan and Ehsan Hasan. Since that moment, no information has been provided regarding their location or condition.

Enforced disappearance has become a central feature of repression in the region and must be recognized as a serious crime under international law.
