The median rent of all apartments in NYC is $1,641. The City publishes the data every 3 years. Literally half of NYC renters pay less than $1,641 for their apartments.

Market rate rents are stupid high because rent control doesn't work. This isn't rocket science. We all know it doesn't work.

This is a decision you guys made. "We're going to crush the 20 year olds with sky high rents and make them subsidize the housing of people in their 70s." You knew this would happen... you see it happening... and you remain unwilling to fix the issue... and the issue is that rent control never works. Ever.

Communism has always appealed because it offers a morally simple answer to an impossibly complex human problem.

It replaces responsibility with resentment.

Most importantly, it tells ordinary people they can become virtuous without becoming better.

That is why it returns every generation. Not because it works, but because it flatters.

Today, that temptation is more dangerous than ever.

Every generation inherits more powerful instruments than the last. Whether those instruments preserve liberty or erode it depends on the ideas guiding the hands that wield them.

The lesson of the last century is not merely that communism failed. It is that no society is immune from believing that concentrating power in pursuit of moral perfection will finally succeed.

History has already rendered its verdict; 100 million+ dead.

Our responsibility is to remember it before we convince ourselves that this time will be different.

Every gram of lamb contains complete protein, zinc, iron, B12, selenium, and the conjugated linoleic acid your metabolism actually asked for.

She also produces, as a side effect, the landscape the tourists photograph. The wildflowers the campaigners claim to care about. The birdlife the charities fundraise on.
