this man’s vision of our country is forcing you to take out loans from the government, to pay taxes on money you don’t have, to fund endemic fraud and healthcare for illegal immigrants
The good news is that there are so many idiotic things going on--made-up sexes, govt grocery stores, a fabulist Cambridge prof, Wisconsin politics--that I see lots of witty takes on X that make me smile. The bad news is that there are so many idiotic things going on.
One of my Democrat friends just texted me:
"Bro wtf is happening in Spain? Where the hell are the cops?"
I'm speechless...
I'm convinced Democrat voters had no idea that this is exactly what our border looked like for 4 years under Biden.
The Left and the media did a flawless job covering it up and sugar-coating it.
The median rent of all apartments in NYC is $1,641. The City publishes the data every 3 years. Literally half of NYC renters pay less than $1,641 for their apartments.
Market rate rents are stupid high because rent control doesn't work. This isn't rocket science. We all know it doesn't work.
This is a decision you guys made. "We're going to crush the 20 year olds with sky high rents and make them subsidize the housing of people in their 70s." You knew this would happen... you see it happening... and you remain unwilling to fix the issue... and the issue is that rent control never works. Ever.
Communism has always appealed because it offers a morally simple answer to an impossibly complex human problem.
>Life is unfair.
>Therefore someone must be guilty.
>If we punish the guilty, justice will follow.
It replaces responsibility with resentment.
Most importantly, it tells ordinary people they can become virtuous without becoming better.
That is why it returns every generation. Not because it works, but because it flatters.
History’s warning is not that these ideas begin with prison camps. They begin with moral certainty and the belief that society can be perfected if only the “right” people are given enough power to identify the guilty and reorganize everyone else’s lives.
Today, that temptation is more dangerous than ever.
Never before have governments and institutions possessed so much data, so many surveillance tools, so much influence over information, and such extraordinary capacity to shape public life at scale. Every generation inherits more powerful instruments than the last. Whether those instruments preserve liberty or erode it depends on the ideas guiding the hands that wield them.
The lesson of the last century is not merely that communism failed. It is that no society is immune from believing that concentrating power in pursuit of moral perfection will finally succeed.
History has already rendered its verdict; 100 million+ dead.
Our responsibility is to remember it before we convince ourselves that this time will be different.
Envy is a primitive, immoral, and self-destructive impulse.
You grew up rich, went to rich schools and beg rich people for donations.
You don't create wealth; you just covet the wealth others have built.
You need the rich and hate them for it. And it's so juvenile, so tedious.
Oh, Hillary. Hillary, Hillary. You ignorant slut.
As the Senior Military Aide to President Bill Clinton, YOU’RE military aide — the officer who carried the nuclear football in and out of the White House every single day — I saw the “people’s house” up close alongside you. @HillaryClinton
Spare us the sanctimonious lectures. And turn on your replies, coward.
When you and Bill left in January 2001, your staff ransacked the place. Remember?
“W” keys ripped off every keyboard. Phone lines cut. Desk drawers glued shut. Obscene voicemails and vulgar graffiti left behind.
Presidential seals and silverware stolen. Furniture damaged. The GAO confirmed the vandalism and theft. It wasn’t “transition friction” — it was a disgrace.
You trashed the People’s House on your way out the door and now you’re clutching pearls over Trump?
I remember, Hillary. I was there. Remember?
The hypocrisy is Olympic-level, Ms. Clinton. And you know it! You of ALL people know it!
The American people have long memories. Especially this one! Me!
We remember who actually looted the place. Shut up and color.
People ask me why I'm so passionate about sheep.
Here's why.
A sheep wakes up on a hillside nothing else will live on. 32-degree slopes. Acidic soil. Wind off the Atlantic. Rain in quantities most European crops would consider insulting. She walks out, eats grass nobody asked her to grow, and turns it into meat, milk, wool, lanolin, and the maintained landscape beneath her feet.
She requires no pesticides. No irrigation. No imported feed. No lab. No patent.
She takes the sun, the rain, the soil, and the specific botanical composition of a particular upland, and produces the leanest, most nutritionally complete meat in the British food supply. Every gram of lamb contains complete protein, zinc, iron, B12, selenium, and the conjugated linoleic acid your metabolism actually asked for.
She also produces, as a side effect, the landscape the tourists photograph. The wildflowers the campaigners claim to care about. The birdlife the charities fundraise on. The stone walls the poets write about. The curlew, the skylark, the golden plover, the red grouse, the hen harrier. None of it exists without her.
And we have spent the last fifty years being told this animal is wrecking the countryside.
The audacity.
I'll take my chances with the creature that has been shaping these hills for ten thousand years over the pea protein isolate that was patented in 2017.
California's population grew 0.4% in the last decade.
The number of state employees grew 24.5%.
Total state spending grew 48%, inflation adjusted.
You have to ask - where did all the money go?
