Denying refugees citizenship simply on the grounds that they arrived here “illegally” on small boats *when there are no legal routes* for most of them to use takes cynicism to new heights. And such performative cruelty won’t see off Reform - it’s more likely to strengthen them
I appreciate that I'm prolific today re assisted suicide. (By the weekend, I'll be asleep and / or watching Christmas movies. Or horror films...)
But here's something I wrote for @guardian that might help some disabled people's fears for changing the law

“To think that people campaign for death and they don’t campaign with any passion for life… It makes me disappointed and ashamed at humanity…
Why rush something so significant, when the cost of getting it wrong is paid in human lives?” https://t.co/h3mQiCVNbt
superdrug is trending because racists are mad that a black woman is in the boots Christmas advert 🙄 it's always the same hateful comments every year no matter the ad🙄 get over yourselves! Black people live in the UK and we celebrate Christmas too
🚨FOR NEW PATIENTS NHS DENTISTRY HAS EFFECTIVELY CEASED TO EXIST
Government’s own shocking data shows a staggering 97% of new patients who try to get an NHS appointment fail to get one
People are forced to pull out their own teeth with pliers - it’s not Victorian medieval
Everyone, repeat after me: Windermere should not be green.
It’s November, and Windermere is turning green with potentially toxic blue-green algae. Yes, we could talk about the role of climate change, but let’s be clear: the real issue is that it’s 2024, and Windermere—our country’s largest and most iconic lake—is being used as a sewage dumping ground. That sewage is the primary driver of the algal bloom we have been seeing over the last week.
This shouldn’t be happening. It’s time for the government to stand against the exploitation of a place with such profound cultural and natural heritage and to finally put an end to sewage pollution in Windermere once and for all.
This is the people’s lake—a national treasure that should be protected for the many, not the few. For today, for tomorrow, and forever. There is one man who can make this happen, and that’s @Keir_Starmer . Keir Starmer, Save Windermere from sewage.

This woman is very brave. Not unlike Gisele Pelicot, it’s a courageous thing to waive anonymity. The shame shouldn’t be Nikita’s, no matter how much she drank or what she took. We still have such misplaced ideas about perceived “less-innocent” victims. Brave girl.
Israel has blocked aid from entering northern Gaza and has said clearly that Palestinians will not be allowed to return home.
This is genocide.
This is ethnic cleansing.
