A mother and her three young children were trapped inside an upside-down SUV that was filling with water in a Florida canal.

One of the little boys was banging on the door, screaming that his mom’s head was underwater.

That’s when Casey Curtis heard the cries and ran toward the canal. He reached the submerged SUV and started pulling the children out one by one, getting all three to safety.

But their mother was still inside.

Casey went back to the vehicle and found her unconscious, still buckled into her seat with her head underwater. He lifted her face above the water, realized she wasn’t breathing and gave her a breath right there in the canal.

She started breathing again.

The mother spent several days in intensive care, but she survived. All three of her children survived too.

Those kids watched a stranger pull them from a sinking SUV, then turn around and go back into the water for their mom when she couldn’t save herself. Casey Curtis is the kind of person people should know about.

Combat veteran Aaron Booker was pulled over on I-15 near Centerville, Utah by American Fork policeman Bronson Kitchen — a school resource officer about an hour outside his jurisdiction.

Kitchen said Booker was solo in the HOV/carpool lane.

Booker said the restriction had already ended and he was legally using the break for a left exit.

Dashcam backed Booker.

The stop escalated: Kitchen demanded the window fully down and threatened to have it broken.

Booker refused a full roll-down, asserted his rights, and demanded a ticket or to leave.

No citation was issued.

After the video was posted online, the chief and Kitchen called Booker and apologized for the out-of-jurisdiction traffic stop and the way it was handled.

Kitchen admitted he was wrong about the carpool lane and should not have threatened to break the window.

❓Why is a school resource officer making traffic stops outside his agency’s jurisdiction… for a carpool-lane violation, no less?

Une figure du compas direct haïtien est décédée. Le trompettiste et arrangeur haïtien André Déjean est mort ce vendredi 11 septembre 2026, à la suite de complications de santé.

André Déjean était l’un des cofondateurs de l’orchestre pétion-villois "Les Frères Déjean", créé à la fin des années 1960. Avec cette formation, il a participé à plusieurs étapes de l’évolution du compas en Haïti, notamment durant la période considérée comme l’âge d’or du genre, ainsi que dans les communautés haïtiennes de la diaspora.

Trompettiste et arrangeur, André Déjean s’était notamment consacré au travail d’harmonisation et aux arrangements musicaux. Il a également participé à la composition de plusieurs chansons devenues des références du répertoire de la musique populaire haïtienne.

Avec la disparition d’André Déjean, le compas direct perd l’un de ses musiciens associés à l’histoire des Frères Déjean et à une période importante de la musique populaire haïtienne.
