I married her dad after his 1st wife died, when she was 13. She’s now 33 & married. I’ve always loved her, and thought we had a friendly relationship. In the past 5+ years she’s distanced herself from me and now says she wants nothing to do w/me.

Friends, I’ve just learned that my adult step-daughter (who just had her first child, a son) doesn’t want me allowed in his life.She told my husband he has to choose between a relationship w/their family or me. He chooses me, but I’m in shock & heartbroken.

@Supersonic_Red Great thread! Born in 1963, I remember talking for hours on the phone with friends. One phone per household (rotary, then later push-button) attached to the wall, with an extra-long cord so you could talk while cooking or doing chores.
