Health priorities are bankable when clearly defined and reform-linked, turning ambition into plans partners can support.
At the High-Level Forum on Sustainable Health Financing in Morocco, I discussed the shift we need: treating health as investment.
Financing is about credibility, not ambition.
In moments of crisis, lifesaving care depends on how quickly support reaches those who need it most.
Following the Maiduguri incident, WHO is working with the Borno State Government, partners and donors to help health workers provide urgent care and protect affected communities.
@WHO has delivered essential emergency supplies to support the response. This includes 4 trauma kits, medicines, IV fluids and antibiotics. These resources are helping stabilize injured patients at the UMTH facility, where 120 patients have been treated, so more families can stay together.
#Tuberculosis is preventable. TB is curable.
Yet every year, thousands of Nigerians still go undiagnosed.
To change this, we must expand access to rapid testing in every state—ensuring no one is left behind in the fight against tuberculosis.
Together, we can protect our communities, save lives, and end TB for good.

Honoured to meet H.E. @SonkoOfficiel, Prime Minister of Senegal 🇸🇳, on the margins of the #AUSummit.
Senegal is making progress in advancing pharmaceutical sovereignty and vaccine production, as well as reinforcing climate and health action.
I extended my congratulations on Senegal’s achievement of WHO certification of trachoma elimination in 2025 and on the introduction of the Hexavalent vaccine. I also thanked the Prime Minister for Senegal’s partnership in supporting the Regional Emergency Hub in Diamniadio.
WHO remains committed to deepening our partnership to strengthen health security and deliver lasting impact for the people of Senegal and the Region.

At the recent #Africa Traditional Rulers Conference GBV Summit in Lagos, I noted that in the fight against #GBV, the influence of traditional leaders saves lives. As always, @UN_Nigeria stands with them & honours their leadership & commitment to traditions that protect, not harm.
"Families living on the edge face tough decisions, like buying food or medicine. People should never have to make these choices."
The @WHO 2026 appeal seeks USD 1 billion to sustain life-saving care in the world’s most severe emergencies.

Proud to lead @UN_Nigeria team at the 2026 Annual Retreat, reviewing progress & shaping our strategic direction. We recommit to multilateralism & the #UNCharter as our compass. We'll strengthen coordination & continue to support 🇳🇬’s dev't goals, & its humanitarian needs & plan.
For the first time in over 3 years, the cholera vaccine supply has increased to levels to resume life-saving preventive campaigns.
Vaccine shortages have meant only using them in response to cholera outbreaks. We are now in a stronger position to bring back their use in prevention.
I thank #EUBiologics, @Gavi and our partners for these efforts, and urge others to enter this vital space to ensure sustainable and accessible vaccine supply globally.
I call for support to communities suffering from cholera to improve their access to clean water, good sanitation, hygiene infrastructure, strong disease monitoring, quick treatment, and active community involvement to stop outbreaks and save lives.

Today in Beijing, China 🇨🇳 I met with African Ambassadors to discuss strengthening China–Africa health cooperation.
@WHOAFRO looks forward to deepening collaboration to advance Africa’s health priorities, from emergency preparedness and local manufacturing to expanding sustainable financing and building resilient systems.
Together, for #HealthForAll.
Vision is more than sight. It is the ability to learn, to work, and to dream.
Honoured to join the opening of the China–Africa Eye Health Alliance, a partnership that shows how shared purpose can transform lives.
With China’s continued support, @WHO is working to expand access to affordable, people-centred eye care across the African Region.
It was a historic moment today as we flagged off the largest integrated health campaign ever undertaken on the African continent, bringing together measles and rubella vaccination, polio, HPV, malaria treatment, and interventions against neglected tropical diseases under one coordinated effort.
This is not just about vaccines; it is about reimagining how we deliver health, reaching people where they live, and restoring trust between citizens and their health system.
Under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, @officialABAT, health is being repositioned as a pillar of national development, healing the country, unifying communities, and inspiring new confidence in our collective capacity to do great things.
We salute Her Excellency, the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, @SenRemiTinubu, for her steadfast advocacy and personal investment of time, talent, and resources, which have helped vaccinate over 15 million adolescent girls against HPV and protect them for life from cervical cancer.
With this campaign, we aim to reach over 100 million Nigerian children with life-saving interventions, the largest such effort in our history.
This is what Renewed Hope looks like in action: one community outreach, multiple services delivered, and a stronger bond of confidence between Nigerians and their health system.
We thank @Muyi_Aina for his exceptional commitment, together with his team at @NphcdaNG, in ensuring that every community is reached and every child protected. Alongside our partners @WHO, @UNICEF, @gavi, @gatesfoundation, and our traditional and religious leaders, we will continue to build a healthier, more equitable, and more unified Nigeria.
Health for all Nigerians. Hope renewed. Progress is underway.
Every nine minutes a person dies from #rabies, although it is 100% preventable.
Protect yourself & your furry friends 🐶 by getting your dog vaccinated annually. Ensure people who are bitten also get access to life saving vaccines!
It's #WorldRabiesDay.

Good discussion today at the Polio Oversight Board meeting with the Global Polio Eradication Initiative partners in #NYC ahead of #UNGA80.
As we work to #EndPolio, our shared message is clear: invest, innovate & act, because stopping polio is possible.
A new #Ebola outbreak is confirmed in the #DRC. Tragically, 15 deaths have been reported so far, including 4 health workers.
@WHO teams are already supporting the response, deploying experts and medical supplies needed to protect health workers and care for patients.

We’re acting with determination, supporting #DRC to rapidly strengthen key #Ebola control measures to halt the spread of the virus and save lives.
An advance team from @WHO, DRC & partners is en route to the affected areas with emergency supplies & equipment.
Pleasure meeting today with @muhammadpate, Minister @Fmohnigeria, to discuss stronger WHO–#Nigeria collaboration.
Nigeria’s Health Sector Renewal Initiative is a pivotal step to reforming primary health care and enhancing health financing.
@WHO is fully committed to supporting these efforts and helping achieve national, regional & global health goals, including polio eradication.
