@JEPnews There needs to be a long-term, well-resourced, co-developed strategy to tackle low voter turnout, with education, collaboration, communication, and inclusivity at its heart :)
Where are we this morning?
- 74 MPs now calling on PM to go
- Mahmood, Healey and Cooper into see PM last night. Cabinet source tells me Mahmood/Cooper told PM to set out timetable. V late last night was told Cooper didn’t urge PM to set out timetable, what she did say unclear
- Reed & McFadden urged PM to fight on
- Lammy & Reynolds ‘by his side’ and ringing around ministers to try gather support/test water
- PM weighing up options overnight, but No 10 did replace the PPS’s resigning late evening
- Crunch cabinet this morning. Will be first time Streeting will see PM.
- leading soft left figures been trying to ‘stop people losing their heads so we can have a less fraught response’ but one admitted late last night ‘it feels like it’s unstoppable now though’
- Cabinet minister last night: “I think the Lab party is about to put itself out of power for a serious period of time by repeating mistakes of the Tories”
Will be outside No 10 on @SkyNews from 9am with @SophyRidgeSky as Cabinet gathers
Just leaving Jersey 🇯🇪 after a successful pilot study which included 3 educational workshops in 3 schools on democratic engagement 🗳️✅. The interest and interaction with young people across Jersey was incredible and feedback like this ⬇️ makes my job worthwhile 😊 #JerseyGE2026
@MichelleWelshMP Thanks @MichelleWelshMP for organising this inclusive community event. Plus, thanks for securing the funding for the Hucknall community. Great turn out. I was inspired by all the positive, community-led ideas and opportunities put forward by residents in Hucknall. #PrideinPlace
That's us! 🌍
The Artemis II crew captured beautiful, high-resolution images of our home planet during their journey to the Moon. As @Astro_Christina put it: "You guys look great."
Thank you @BBCJersey for inviting me onto Alison’s show to discuss the 1st @UniofNottingham ‘Democratic Engagement Network Event’ in 🇯🇪. An inspiring event with speakers from the world of politics, education, charity sector & beyond, united to champion democracy and engagement.
Thrilled to be working with @Shoutout_UK on a @UniofNottingham@TweetMRS special issue of the International Journal of Market Research: “Innovation in Public Opinion and Market Research: Misinformation, Trust, and the Future of Democratic Engagement” #Impact#Collaboration
It was a pleasure 😁🤝 to attend 2 events @UKParliament yesterday organised by @Shoutout_UK & APPG Pol & Media Literacy. Both events showcased insightful research & practical recommendations designed to empower young people ahead of #VotesAt16 ✅ @ACitizenshipT@UniofNottingham
@MichelleWelshMP We visited the Hucknall Christmas Tree Festival🎄at St Mary’s this eve. A great community event and the little one loved it. However, didn’t expect to bump into @TheAntonDuBeke from @bbcstrictly. Still time for @CraigRevHorwood to pop in during breaks from panto in Notts 😁🎄⛪️
@StatesAssembly Great to hear the @StatesAssembly have approved @CPA_Secretariat will be invited back to carry out another independent assessment of the 🇯🇪GE in 2026. I’m sure there will be a lot to mull over and reflect on, which will impact future elections and democratic engagement programmes
