On 15 August, we solemnly remember
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the martyred members of his family, who were brutally assassinated in 1975.
Their memory remains eternal; their legacy lives on.

Bangladesh's remittance inflow has stayed below $3 billion for the second consecutive month. In June 2026, Bangladesh received $2.82 billion in remittance, which slightly increased to $2.86 billion in July 2026.
Why is this important?
Bangladesh's diaspora sends remittance each year, which helps the government to increase Bangladesh's foreign currency reserves. Then the government uses our foreign currency reserves to pay for all the imports and foreign debt obligations. That's why, when the remittance inflow starts slowing down, this puts massive pressure on Bangladesh's economy.
In fact, a growing remittance inflow helps Bangladesh to keep the exchange rate steady. When we have fewer foreign reserves, this also means we have to pay more for imported goods, which in turn causes inflation to go up, and millions of people suffer because they cannot afford to pay higher prices.

Mr. Nowfel @MHCN983 delivered an outstanding speech today considering the reality of Bangladesh's current political situation. This speech will remain relevant even after a hundred years.
@albd1971's motive to BNP has also become clear through Nowfel's statement.
Some “clowns” in Bangladesh claim they will ban the broadcast of Sheikh Hasina’s speech. How exactly do these fools expect to stop the global media? The world-renowned news agency Reuters broadcast Sheikh Hasina’s speech live. Media outlets across the world have reported on her speech today.
The BNP administration’s determination to prevent Sheikh Hasina’s speech from being broadcast only reveals its attitude toward freedom of expression.
At first, Prof. Dr. Pran Gopal Datta, one of Bangladesh’s most renowned ENT specialists, former Vice-Chancellor of BSMMU, a physician who gave decades to this country’s medical education, had to leave Bangladesh after the regime change just because he was an Awami League MP. He is now practicing in India. Yes, he was an Awami League MP and that alone was enough for this country to lose him.
Then, Prof. Dr. Samanta Lal Sen, the man who built Bangladesh’s burn surgery infrastructure- a 500 bed national institute (National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery), wanted to help the patients, the children, during the Milestone tragedy. The interim government blocked him. Not for any other reason but just because of his political stance.
And now, Prof. Dr. A B M Abdullah, an Ekushey Padak recipient, international advisory board member of Davidson’s Medicine and author whose textbooks are studied in the UK, India and the Middle East, has had his lifetime Emeritus Professorship stripped. His salary ordered returned. His only crime? He was Sheikh Hasina’s physician.
Three doctors. But only one fault- not in their expertise, their skills or in their decades of service. Only in their political stance.
Maybe this is exactly why the best of this country end up serving everyone else’s nation but their own!

“I have survived 19 assassination attempts, but nothing has been able to stop me. Since the Almighty has kept me alive, I will return to the soil of Bangladesh very soon,” says former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina
Enough budget, yet disrupted vaccinations and shortages in hospitals raise serious questions. People deserve transparency and accountability for every Tk 42,000 crore spent. Public healthcare must put people first.

“The wounds were so numerous that we could not stitch them properly or administer saline.”
This is how the emergency duty doctor who initially treated Jakaria Hasan Jilan described the horrifying extent of his injuries.
At around 8 pm on Saturday evening, Jilan was found critically injured beside a pond in Barobkunda Union under Sitakunda Upazila of #Chattogram. According to media reports, he had been repeatedly hacked with sharp weapons and the tendons in his legs had also been deliberately slit, indicating an exceptionally brutal and targeted assault.
Jilan was first taken to #Sitakunda Upazila Health Complex. However, the doctor on duty reportedly struggled to properly stitch the wounds or administer saline and other intravenous medication because of the widespread and severe nature of the injuries across his body. He was later transferred to CTG Media College Hospital and then to #Dhaka for advanced treatment, where he currently remains in critical condition.
Jilan is only 21 years old and serves as the Vice-President of the Sitakunda Degree College unit of #ChhatraLeague, the student wing of the #AwamiLeague.

Targeted violence against individuals affiliated with the Awami League began from the very first days of the #Yunus-led Interim Govt and continued with total impunity throughout the eighteen months of the unelected regime.
Alarmingly, rather than subsiding after the change in govt in Feb 2026, such violence has not only continued under the #BNP government led by PM #TariqueRahman, but in many cases appears to have taken even more violent and extreme forms.
In just the first three months of the BNP Govt, at least five Awami League-affiliated individuals have reportedly been violently killed. This includes the recent graphic incident in Chattogram where the body of a Chhatra League activist was found hanging from a flyover under deeply suspicious circumstances. See:
https://t.co/xSbcVaiB4g
Moreover, it is not only politically affiliated individuals who are paying the price. Increasingly, even those connected to them through personal, social, or family relationships are becoming victims of political #violence and intimidation.
In a recent shocking incident in #CoxsBazar, a mother was reportedly killed while trying to protect her son from a violent assault allegedly carried out by local #BNP and #ChhatraDal activists. See:
https://t.co/lRz1tBnaPt
Taken together, these incidents raise serious concerns about the continuing deterioration of political tolerance, rule of law, and public security in Bangladesh.
The persistence of violent attacks on political rivals of the ruling party, alongside the apparent absence of accountability, is contributing to a growing climate of fear and polarization across the country.

⚡️ Drop Site News has published for the first time the full Cable I-0678 — the classified Pakistani diplomatic telegram dated March 7, 2022, that Imran Khan has cited as evidence of a U.S.-backed conspiracy to remove him from power.
The cable, sent from Pakistan’s ambassador in Washington to the Foreign Secretary in Islamabad, documents a luncheon meeting between Ambassador Asad Majeed Khan and U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu.
According to the cable, Lu told the ambassador that Washington’s grievances with Khan’s government could be set aside if Khan were removed through a no-confidence vote. “I think if the no confidence vote against the Prime Minister succeeds, all will be forgiven in Washington because the Russia visit is being looked at as a decision by the Prime Minister,” Lu said, per the cable.
“Otherwise, I think it will be tough going ahead.”
In his own assessment, the ambassador wrote that Lu “could not have conveyed such a strong demarche without the express approval of the White House” and had “spoken out of turn on Pakistan’s internal political process.”
The cable was marked Secret, No Circulation, and distributed to Pakistan’s Secretary to the Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary, Chief of Army Staff, Director General of the ISI, and the Director of the SSP Section.
Khan was removed via no-confidence vote on April 9, 2022, six weeks after the meeting. He has been imprisoned since 2023, and has been held in solitary confinement since last year.

Extrajudicial ban on Awami League indemnified ongoing genocide
Hundreds of party activists murdered, killing spree going on, no justice, no right to life for millions
Emboldened by state sponsored impunity, a cabal of extremist forces including Jamaat e Islami unleashed a brutal killing spree against citizens merely for their political belief.
Yet another anti war crimes campaigner from Awami League’s student wing was murdered and then his body was hung in public in the port city.
The corpse of Kawsar Ahmed, liberation war affairs secretary of Chittagong BSL Thana unit, was found hanging from flyover.
This savagery offers a stark glimpse into the ongoing wave of almost two year long massacre against citizens affiliated with Awami League and its associate bodies. Introduced by murderous Yunus regime and then passed by incumbent parliament, the extrajudicial ban on Awami League has directly enabled this killing spree as murderers have been indemnified by the state as global rights body remain complicit with their silence.
Over 600 activists and leaders were burnt alive, tortured to death, slayed and their mutilated bodies were dumped while whereabouts of thousands are still unknown.

At least 400+ mothers are grieving their biggest loss as a preventable measles outbreak killed their children. Thousands are toiling hard, spending sleepless nights to help their hospitalised children win the battle for life from measles. Millions are in a frantic race to keep their children unaffected by measles.
Such agony, pain, suffering, grief, and anguish of millions of mothers testify to the deadly outcome of a murderous health policy pursued by the Yunus regime that deprived children of vaccination, fueling the outbreak.
Bangladesh prevented such deaths for decades, prioritising vaccination, a reminder that ensuring the right to vaccination is a responsibility of the state.
No compensation can fill up these empty mother lapses.
Ending impunity to that Yunus made a death spree is the least the state can ensure.

Condolence Message from Awami League President and Daughter of Bangabandhu, Sheikh Hasina, on the Passing of Veteran Politician, Freedom Fighter, and Awami League Presidium Member Engineer Mosharraf Hossain
“With the passing of veteran politician and heroic freedom fighter Engineer Mosharraf Hossain, an era of politics comes to an end. The nation mourns the loss of a dedicated leader whose contributions will remain forever etched in history.”
Bangladesh Awami League Presidium Member, valiant freedom fighter, veteran politician, and former successful minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain is no longer among us. From January 12, 1943, to May 13, 2026, he lived a distinguished political life before departing for eternity.
Engineer Mosharraf Hossain was one of the close associates of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He participated in the historic 1970 election and played a vital role in strengthening the political foundation of the Awami League in the Chattogram region. From the very beginning of his political life, he remained devoted to the ideals of Bangabandhu and the spirit of the Liberation War, dedicating himself to the politics of serving the people.
During the Liberation War, he served as a Sub-Sector Commander under Sector-1. His leadership and bravery played an important role in organizing wartime resistance. After independence, he was elected multiple times as a Member of Parliament from Chattogram-1 (Mirsharai) and contributed to national development while serving in responsible positions in government.
Yet, after coming to power unlawfully, Yunus had veteran politician and heroic freedom fighter Engineer Mosharraf Hossain arrested and sent to prison. Despite suffering from multiple age-related complications, this senior statesman was kept imprisoned for eight months under false charges. During his incarceration, he was allegedly deprived of adequate medical treatment as his physical condition deteriorated. When his condition became critical, he was admitted to the ICU at Bangabandhu Medical in Dhaka. By the time he was granted bail, his health had already reached a critical stage.
The man who risked his life during the Great Liberation War, who held important leadership responsibilities during the struggle for independence, and who dedicated the last 54 years to politics and public service, was denied proper humanitarian support during one of the most vulnerable moments of his life.
Engineer Mosharraf Hossain devoted himself throughout his long political career to the welfare of the party, the country, and the people. He played an important role in organization-building, political movements, and state administration. With his passing, the Awami League family has lost an experienced, visionary, and selfless leader. The nation will forever remember his contributions, sacrifices, and struggles with deep respect.
I pray for the eternal peace of his departed soul and extend my deepest condolences to his bereaved family. His contributions will remain eternally remembered in history. Verily, to God we belong and to Him we shall return.
Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu
May Bangladesh live forever.

The @UNHumanRights report on the July–August 2024 violence is not just flawed — it’s dangerously one-sided.
*⃣ Media censorship amplified only the anti-AL sections
*⃣ The “1,400 deaths” figure doesn’t match their own calculations
*⃣ Duplicate names, unrelated deaths, even living people included in the “martyr list”
*⃣ Only 130 autopsies examined — yet they blamed state forces for most killings
*⃣ 450+ police stations came under militant attack, but Awami League was blamed
*⃣ 111 unidentified bodies buried without investigation — no DNA tests, no answers
*⃣ Militant groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba & Jamaat-ud-Dawa openly claimed involvement
When facts are bent to fit politics, truth becomes the first casualty.
