@Londonblue_2 There's nothing fair about state ownership. How do you think the sport looks without financial regulations in place? The gap from top to bottom will increase, whilst transfer fees and wages will skyrocket. Of course, you secretly want this because it means City carry on winning
So I’m hearing it’s City that have “ruined the market”?? 😂
- Not Man United who have spent billions, weren’t in Europe last season after finishing 15th, but still spent £200M? 🤔
- Not Arsenal who have spent over a billion to win one trophy? 🤔
- Not Chelsea who have spent over 2 billion? 🤔
- Not Tottenham who continue to spend after back to back 17th place finishes? 🤔
- Not Liverpool who spent £450M the season after winning the league, only to scrape UCL football and sack their manager? 🤔
Okay 👍🏻
@FrankieMaguire Your anger is justified but direct it elsewhere. State ownership is the issue here, how more people don't recognise this is beyond me. As soon as an ownership model that is basically unlimited wealth was allowed the sport was f****d. Banning state ownership is the ONLY solution
@the115blues The problem is human rights abusing regimes using their unlimited funds to cheat whilst 99.9% of other clubs have to operate like functioning businesses whilst attempting to compete with the rising costs of transfer fees and wages
And yes, it does mention US billionaires and Arsenal’s sponsorships
But as important as all that is, it’s negligible next to the influence of a hydrocarbon global power - look at effect of Strait of Hormuz
This is what it does to football

@raducrisanx@MiguelDelaney One of the most ignorant and idiotic replies I've ever read. It's like telling a local bakery they've taken their eye off the ball when they go under because Greggs moved in next door....Except Greggs aren't owned by a corrupt, homophobic, misogynistic, human rights abusing state
If there’s a more embarrassingly sycophantic, ill-informed pro-City account than this former editor of The Sun, I’ve yet to see it. Utter cringe, every time. Looks like a clown every time he posts pro-City propaganda
Over the past two years, the latest conflict in Sudan is estimated to have claimed at least 150,000 lives.
Now, human rights organisation FairSquare has provided the latest calls for the British government’s Foreign Office to consider sanctions and investigate the role of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan — owner of Manchester City and deputy prime minister of Abu Dhabi — in the UAE government's alleged support of a paramilitary group accused of committing war crimes in the country.
This follows on from former leader of the Conservative Party Iain Duncan Smith stating in parliament in January that Mansour was “possibly the most high-profile UAE investor in the UK economy” and arguing that the Foreign Office should undertake a “full assessment of whether representatives of the UAE Government may meet the criteria for sanctions”.
The UK government has already sanctioned several private individuals and organisations in connection to the atrocities taking place in Sudan, which UN officials have stated carry “hallmarks of genocide”.
The UAE strongly denies being a party to the conflict or supporting either side.
@jwhitey98 explains why there have been calls to investigate potential sanctions against Man City's owner and what the possible consequences would be.

Six months since City fans protested outside the Etihad over ownership links to Sudan’s genocide.
Sheikh Mansour is still arming the RSF - the militias raping, murdering & ethnically cleansing Sudan. US intel intercepted his direct calls with Hemedti, using “charities” as cover to funnel weapons & aid.
The UN Panel found “credible” evidence of UAE military support. Reuters exposed the funding of RSF training. Sudan’s own UN rep accused them of recruiting foreign mercenaries.
Roman Abramovich was rightly forced to sell Chelsea over far less. Mansour gets a free pass because UAE money & geopolitics matter more than a genocide.
Football opened Pandora’s box the day it let nation states own clubs, something that never should have been allowed to happen - & there’s no turning back.
@DalaiPalmerMCR@gazzor61@WayneSBarton Like most Man City fans then, brainwashed by the club's ownership so much that you've all lost the power of human thought and decency
