Looking to hire multiple postdocs: 1) Modeling a transmissible vaccine currently being used to control a chicken virus, 2) Experiments in a new model system (a nematode virus) to understand drivers of host jumps. I'll be at EEID the next few days, but also available by DM/email
Inspiring talk by @sse_evolution past president Ruth Shaw. Her beautiful science informs how we should approach the challenges and risks of interpretting studies of inheritance in human pops & our responsibility as evolutionary biologists to correct harmful misunderstandings. 👏
Great news on a gray day in Minnesota: Professor Ruth Shaw is a newly inducted member of the National Academy of Sciences. Congrats on this honor! Review all the new members: https://t.co/7LK11s2sx6 #UMNproud
Hi all, I have a new postdoc position available in my lab. The successful candidate will combine mathematical models with genomic, surveillance, and experimental data to study the ecological and evolutionary consequences of transmissible vaccination. https://t.co/R8BYvtbhAd
Hi #RStats community! Was hoping someone has a solution to my problem. I'm trying to generate extrapolated data that accounts for model uncertainty from a fitted mixed effects model. "predict" ignores parameter uncertainty and "simulate" doesn't let me specify variables. Ideas?
@SusanAShriner @bennyborremans @jlloydsmith Thanks so much Susan and Benny! I really enjoyed both your talks as well. I look forward to delving more into both of your science as I learn more about spillover biology!
Thanks @_tarasite_ for a great #ESA2020 talk about host competence. I've also only had a "squishy" understanding of the term before so I'm pleased that your paper will be a resource to better definte the issue. Super neat data too!! Looking forward to reading the paper in full.
Fascinating talk by @corletwwood at #ESA2020 about the tradeoffs associated with forming mutualisms and avoiding parasitism! Beautiful experimental work. Highly recommend!
Fascinating talk by @patrickaclay on how dose response relationships alter impacts of diluting and amplifying hosts in multihost communities! So interesting I watched it twice! #ESA2020@duffy_ma
Enjoyed watching many great #disecol#ESA2020 talks today! I'd love to hear feedback on mine about the development of a new laboratory system to study host jumps. COS 98. This work is with @dkenned11
