Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is requiring all new vaccines to be tested against placebos before being licensed, officials said on April 30.

The requirement is “a radical departure from past practices,” a spokesperson for the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) told The Epoch Times in an email.

“Except for the COVID vaccine, none of the vaccines on the CDC’s childhood recommended schedule was tested against an inert placebo, meaning we know very little about the actual risk profiles of these products,” the HHS spokesperson said.

A placebo is a substance that “has no effect on living beings,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) defines it as an “inactive preparation.” Neither agency responded to requests for comment.

Many vaccines licensed in the United States were tested against other vaccines, rather than against a placebo, HHS acknowledged in a 2018 letter to the Informed Consent Action Network.

Federal regulators, who are part of HHS, have not approved any vaccines since Kennedy was sworn in as health secretary in February.

Dave Weldon’s Pulled CDC Nomination: ‘There was some kind of an alliance between Pharma and Senator Cassidy’

While we don’t know the ins and outs behind why Dr. Weldon’s nomination got pulled, it appears that his stance on vaccines more than likely contributed to that decision.

🚨 BREAKING: Makary, Bhattacharya Nominations Move to Full Senate Vote, But Trump Pulls Weldon Nomination to Lead CDC

According to @statnews, Dave Weldon requested $1.9 million in the 2005 budget for the center to study “the biological origins” of childhood developmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD). However, Congress chose not to fund it.

In 2007, Weldon introduced a bill “to improve vaccine safety research” that would have transferred the responsibility of tracking vaccine safety from the CDC to an independent agency within HHS.

The bill stipulated that the independent agency would:

• Conduct or support safety research and monitor licensed vaccines.
• Develop a vaccine safety research agenda.
• Evaluate means to promote compliance with federal adverse reaction reporting requirements.
• Provide a clearinghouse for vaccine studies.
• Ensure that functions relating to vaccine monitoring or research on adverse reactions are not carried out by anyone with a conflict of interest.
• Oversee the Vaccine Safety Datalink Project.
• Resolve U.S. conflicts of interest related to international agreements, partnerships, and activities.

However, the bill never made it to the House floor for a vote.
