@educator4ever36@kylegeorg This isn’t new. It’s been going on for over a decade. So your argument is if a kid isn’t academically ready they should/could be held back. But if they are physically not ready they cannot? I have zero issue with this.
@sharpchr81@educator4ever36@HattieMags@WCPSS Then they just do virtual school or home school or jump ship to another district in many cases. Some parents take parenting seriously, some do not.
@educator4ever36@1in5advocacy It’s waiting to fail rather than trusting professionals to intervene early and intensely where you have the best chance of success. The system is backwards. I was an END teacher for 10 years. I’d love to see it changed, and alt schools available.
@educator4ever36@DavWarren3 It’s not just cotaught teachers. Paras also need to be up and moving around, proximity, etc. I’m a former EBD teacher. When I was in classrooms my caseload preferred asking gen ed teacher questions, gen ed students preferred asking me, and that’s ok.
@educator4ever36@KevinRickard4@ModestTeacher As an elementary principal, it’s a lot, but the parents are just as bad or worse than the students are many times in understanding the difference.
@0riettaRose Parenting failure at this point, we call them screen babies. Above and beyond that you add in gentle parenting a parents wanting to be their child’s friend and it’s a perfect storm.
@rtinfow@educator4ever36@ShaneTuttleNCAA Because it subsidizes education. You can’t be an elite research institution without a dominant money making sports team. Our own government doesn’t want to pump money into research so gotta get it somewhere.
@educator4ever36@FounderDad That’s why I liked teaching middle school sped. They don’t fully hate school yet, so you get a chance to “get them back.” Unlocking reading, or social regulation for a kid and watching them succeed is so awesome.
@TheGratefulMe13@JamesAFurey Alternative school with wrap around support until a kid can regulate. Early intensive intervention would be best to get them back in with their peers. You have until 2nd-3rd grade for them to be able to regulate before classmates want nothing to do with them.
@biggieschools@teacherinRI Are you sure it’s due to small size? A parent enrolling their child in a micro school is making an active choice for the betterment of their child. Having active parents is far more important than if the class size is 10, 15, 20 or 25.
@drakmog@MrDanielBuck Many screen babies come to school unable to regulate. They are incapable of learning, sitting or listening. Teachers/education can’t compete with 20 second TikTok videos and Fortnite.
