Excessively weak 10-11th grade athletes going to more showcase’s/prospect clinics in a month than they do s&c workouts always strikes me as absurdly ironic.
DeSean Jackson rejects football’s the live in the office coaching culture
“I spent 15 years playing in the league. The last thing I want to do is go have a long schedule, 8 in the morning till 10 at night, because we know the coaches we played for, they was in there all day.”
“I be in there probably like 6:30 in the morning, and I honestly be out by like two. But I tell my coaches, ‘Just because you there all day don’t mean nothing.’ You can still get out-schemed. You can still get out-worked.”
“So I’m not one of those coaches that be like, ‘We got to be there 8 in the morning, 6 in the morning and 10 at night.’ Get in. Get your work done. When you done, man, you get up out of there. I feel like you can get your work done and get home to your family, because I’m not going to be in there all day.”
“After a while, you just running up into a brick wall. You going to be miserable, frustrated, cussing out players, cussing out coaches. Nah, bro. I got to go reset.”
Celebrating 50 Seasons of OCS Football! Thank you to OCS alumnus, Paul Stephens, for coming and sharing about the “early days.”

Yall get off @pntrack back 🤣. I am the first one to also argue an athlete needs more than speed training. But the fact is this:
IMO THERE IS NO COACH IN AMERICA WHO HAS DONE MORE FOR OUR PROFESSION WHEN IT COMES TO REMOVING NONSENSE THAT KILLS KIDS.
This guy would write out the entire opening script (10-15 plays) last year as a freshman. All 11 players, all of their responsibilities, and the entire defense. Some program is going to be incredibly fortunate to get this young man. He’s built different!
Jones (Okla.) QB Jeymon Reed may very well end up the highest-ranked quarterback the state of Oklahoma has produced in the 21st century.
The #Sooners and #GoPokes are, understandably, building strong bonds with the talented dual threat.

People are obsessed with adding more & more to each work out
Consider this, many times in medicine, you take an effective maintenance dose
You don’t take more and more, instead you maintain a certain concentration long enough to see results
This is also training, more to come
The "minimal effective dose" never was meant to be "DO NOT TRAIN HARD." To me it has always been a search of being able to save time and wear and tear on a body so MORE stuff could get done in DIFFERENT areas.
Football Coaches…👇🏻
The biggest two advantages you give your team this year is continuing In-Season Training and finding ways to cut practice volume.
The first ensures your players develop physically.
The second allows them to stay fresh for the long season.
I had a consult last night and the first thing Coach said before we talked BMT…
“Coach, I just want to say you don’t need to convince me of BMT. I am a believer. The gains I’ve made in just a wave as a trained lifter is unbelievable”
Don’t listen to me, try it yourself and report back🫡
Camp’s have started all across the country. If you’re a coach and you’re trying to get your team ready for the season, make sure you’re creating the right adaptations and not chasing exhaustion.
Things I have learned with HS kids
1) Big words and education matter very little
2) Raising your voice is effective IF you don't always do it to get your point across
3) The great ones will over work
4) IT IS FUN and REWARDING but at the same time STRESSFUL and ANNOYING 🤣
Just football practice and a lift. Senior varsity starter. Multiple D1 offers. Pretending that somehow running around back and forth at this point of the year for high school football players (outside of practice) is just running a firehose into a solo cup is our ego or our past learned behavior bias suggesting it’s what is needed.
Now imagine what a day of 7-7 looks like..(I don’t have to I’ve had kids wearing HR monitors before).
