I just arrived in New York for #UNGA81. At a moment where the world is facing growing pressure from conflict, climate shocks, and economic uncertainty. This week, I will be making the case that investing in rural economies is an investment in food security, economic opportunity and global stability.

At @IFAD, we see what happens when investment reaches the first mile. It means stronger markets, more jobs, more resilient communities and greater opportunity. #IFAD14 gives us an opportunity to scale that impact by bringing governments, development partners and the private sector together behind ambitious investment in rural transformation.

I look forward to meeting leaders and partners throughout the week and building the ambition needed to turn that opportunity into action.
