Astrophysicist who studies neutron stars as accreting pulsars and when they merge to form gamma-ray bursts

[EGO & the Virgo Collaboration @ego_virgo]

@NASA @LIGO No signals were found, so the analysis team went on to evaluate how much gamma-ray energy could have been present without appearing as a signal in the analyses performed, therefore setting significant upper limits. Read more 👉https://t.co/eUPzH18OY5

by LVK scientists in collaboration with a group of astronomers, using data from @NASA missions Fermi and Swift. In the article scientists search systematically for gamma-ray signals which could be associated with gravitational wave events found in the @LIGO-Virgo O3 observing run

In the era of multimessenger astronomy, where the goal is to observe astrophysical events through different messengers, there is a key teamwork between different observatories, experiments and collaborations. This is why we’re excited to share a paper published this week (1/3)

[U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) @USNRL]

#USNRL and teammates discovered groundbreaking evidence for gravitational waves that stretch and squeeze #spacetime. This evidence opens a new way to study the most massive objects in the universe.

50 years ago, U.S. Air Force satellites spotted mysterious flashes of X-rays and gamma rays. Scientists determined that they occurred outside our solar system and published the first paper about gamma-ray bursts! How have we studied them in decades since then? 🧵1/10

Hey IXPE, take a look at this!

After our Fermi telescope and others spotted a record-breaking gamma-ray burst in October, the IXPE team quickly pointed the observatory’s unique X-ray vision toward the powerful event before it could disappear. Read more: https://t.co/dT1NLYHanE

@feryal_ozel Just wait a few days 😀

@misszoot I reply listing the foods I have issues with. I will usually add that mine is an intolerance. Then I say traces are okay but eating it will make me sick

[Dr Colleen Wilson-Hodge @ColleenWilsonH]

@tjmaccarone That was intended to say “ NOT directly detecting photons”. Missing an important word !

[Dr Colleen Wilson-Hodge @ColleenWilsonH]

@tjmaccarone Of course the counts are directly photons in a scintillator, but they are closely correlated

[dr briley lewis @briles_34]

there’s a lot of bad news going on today, so if you want to take a momentary break to think about the stars, I wrote an article for @SPIEtweets Photonics Focus that came out today about the very cool mission proposal for @STROBEXastro https://t.co/HilSM5n0Ls

[Dr Colleen Wilson-Hodge @ColleenWilsonH]

@drannawatts @AAS_HEAD Congratulations!
