@thrawnftw@JPuncut@Alex_Ortodoxie OK now I think I am tracking. What makes having an infallible canon list irrelevant to orthodoxy? That means you do not know if the Scripture in your litrugy is actually Scripture? And why do you think having an infallible canon list is crucial to Protestant traditions?
@thrawnftw@JPuncut@Alex_Ortodoxie Even if Protestant ecclesiology is inconsistent in all its forms, that doesn’t justify orthodox apologists from using special pleading as a key polemic against us
@thrawnftw@JPuncut@Alex_Ortodoxie “Not having a definitive, infallible list of which books constitute Scripture is a problem for a Christian tradition.”
How can that statement be true only for Protestants and not Orthodox? I don’t understand how your answer about liturgy accounts for this obvious special pleading
@thrawnftw@JPuncut@Alex_Ortodoxie All you did was state that books show up in Orthodox liturgy. You have yet to prove why an Orthodox can use not having a definitive canon as an argument against other tradition's while it fails to provide a definitive canon.
@thrawnftw@JPuncut@Alex_Ortodoxie So if I can’t do X that’s bad and can be used against me. If you can’t do X, it’s not bad and can’t be used against you. Got it.
@thrawnftw@JPuncut@Alex_Ortodoxie Perfect. So it stands to reason that the Orthodox Church cannot criticize Protestantism for failing to provide what it also fails to provide, yes?
@thrawnftw@JPuncut@Alex_Ortodoxie And do you claim the Orthodox Church is completely unified and has clear dogmatic teaching on which books are inspired?
@ShamelessPopery@ThoughtfulSaint Joe the Calvinist notion of divine reprobation is essentially identical to the Thomist notion of the same. Ie, if God truly wanted to save the reprobate He could, but He chooses not to.
Friends, it took some time as there were a couple holdups. BUT--I got my test results. NEGATIVE! No microscopic cancer DNA found in my blood, and that includes testing to match the DNA in my lung lesion!!!!
Doesn't guarantee I won't have another battle with cancer in the future, but in terms of likelihood it is VERY good news and I'm in tears of gratitude by myself while my fam is at a movie. (I'm supposed to be writing 😂).
Feeling overwhelmed all of the sudden and am going to try to take some time off this site for awhile to enjoy the goodness of God.
Thank you for your prayers, all. Grateful to know that while X may not be "real life," the friends I've made on here are absolutely real friends!!
"I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live." ~Psalm 116:1-2.
@TD_Barrett@sincead33@redeemed_zoomer If true, is that a problem? Back to my point, this demands the Roman Catholic not have divine faith on many important issues like in my example of Thomism vs Molinism. Why criticize RZ when he too lacks divine faith on important issues of theology which he believes true?
