At this point, there’s no prestige or incentive to go through everything it takes to become a state trooper (as opposed to any other cop) & climb the ranks.

ANY podunk police chief can be hired to run the state patrol. It’s happened twice now.

Last week, Col. Bolduc presented a Citation for Meritorious Service to Trooper Nathan Schulz for his incredible efforts earlier this year.

In January, Trooper Schulz placed himself at risk to stop a wrong-way driver on I-80 in the middle of the night in Keith County. After performing a TVI to stop the vehicle, he discovered that the driver was an older man who had suffered a head injury earlier in the day and was having a medical episode.

Thanks to Trooper Schulz, the man was safely stopped and got medical treatment, and nobody else was hurt.
