@REMEZCLA The DGA, Sony and Freeform counted a white female director from Madrid as a Person of Color. The number of Latina directors and POC directors is lower than reported.
@bad_dominicana There is definitely a need for black Latino roles in Hollywood. But are any of those shows above made in Hollywood? It looks like Argentina, Mexico, Colombia etc. shows made far from Hollywood, primarily for and by foreign audiences, then imported after the fact into the US.
@Inclusionists@analydiamonaco @kathia_woods Highly suggest you go back over all your reports through the years and future ones and look at which studios, networks, guilds told you that talent fresh from or living in Latin America or Spain were POC minorities.
@Inclusionists@analydiamonaco @kathia_woods Thank you. Ask questions about US born or raised Latinx vs foreign Hispanic. Question the US Guilds, studios about how and why they count writers, directors, actors, shows and films in Spain, Latin America, etc as “minority” and “POC”.
@infoCinelandia Latin American filmmakers are playing on an entirely different playing field, with different tools and players to help them. It’s misguided and simplistic for an actor-director like this to misread what 2nd+ gen talent in the US faces, and more harmful than helpful.
@IndieFindsLA@Inclusionists@NALIP_org If you remove Jaume Collet-Serra from this count, the number of “Latino” directors plunged considerably from 28 films to 21. Why is a European Spaniard from Barcelona being counted as Latino in the first place? @NALIP_org
@IndieFindsLA@Inclusionists Yeah was wondering about this too. Why is European Spanish talent being counted as Latino? That skews the numbers. @NALIP_org
Musicians @JLo, @ricky_martin and @Lin_Manuel gave their backing to the letter, which called on those outside the Latino community to “speak out loudly against hate.” https://t.co/GM11VfA9O0

@AndreaGompf@REMEZCLA@netflix Good luck and hoping this is a step towards Netflix backing more series for Latinx in the US. All the money and support for Latin America and Spain is good for Latin America and Spain, but we need more than subtitles and dubbing here.
It's been a challenging three weeks for Ogilvy in wake of revelations that the agency was working on ads for the US Department of Customs and Border Protection. Many staff members are not happy, but should they have a say in what happens to the contract? https://t.co/pvgqPPeeqm
