☄️🌌This evening, I finally captured Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) from Srinagar, Kashmir🌌☄️

➡The comet was last visible from earth around 80,000years ago! This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I am grateful to have been able to capture this Comet...

For the fun of it, I've combined two SOHO/LASCO C3 image extracts, one of C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) and the second of C/2004 F4 (Bradfield), just as they entered the FOV. Considering that F4 was among the more spectular comets seen in LASCO, my expectations for A3 are high!

There we have it!
First glimpses of #Comet C/2023 A3 Tshuchinsan-Atlas in Lasco C3 view field in bottom right corner. The come is likely to be seen as a super bright one in Lasco C3 in years.

Also it will give us some interesting views after sunsets after a week

Comet C/2023 A3 is now peeking in the lower-right corner of our HI-1 images on NASA STEREO-A (it's ridiculously bright)

These are low-res, ultra-compressed images, so they're ugly AF. We'll have the full-res images by Sunday or Monday. I'll post some pretty pics early next week

⚡️☄️ BREAKING: Bright Kreutz Sungrazer Comet Discovered!

Meet A11bP7I, the newest and potentially BRIGHTEST Kreutz sungrazer comet since C/1965 S1 (Ikeya-Seki) (first pic)! Currently, it’s hanging out 1.0 AU away from the Sun and shining at magnitude 15. ✨🔭

🔎 What’s more impressive? Its absolute magnitude is 2-3 magnitudes higher than C/2011 W3 (Lovejoy) (second pic). During perihelion, this stunner could briefly reach -5 to -7 mag, outshining even Venus!

🌞 If the comet survives its scorching close encounter with the Sun (fingers crossed 🤞), it’ll put on a spectacular morning show with a huge, bright dust tail visible from middle northern latitudes! The southern hemisphere gets the best visibility pre-perihelion. 📍🌏

You can already find the comet’s location in the Sky Tonight app! Just type A11bP7I and tap the target icon next to the comet’s name. Voila! 🔍✨

📝 Reference: Kreutz sungrazers come super close to the Sun at perihelion, heating up to 1000+°C and often becoming incredibly bright! 🌟
