Delighted to join the APPG on ME to address the hurdles encountered by those living with ME in the UK.
Having spoken to many constituents in York Outer with ME, I am looking forward to working with colleagues across the house to improve outcomes for those living with ME.
How did they pull it off? Since launching #WinAsOne in 2022, they devoted years to planning, strategic thinking and relationship-building.
During the campaign period, they delivered over 100,000 leaflets directly to voters.
Over 170 activists dedicated their time to leafleting, door-knocking and phone-banking.
Great work @FairElectionsUK
We thank those MPs in York and North Yorkshire who have signed up. We have a question for those who have not yet? When?
@CompassOffice
Great to see nearly 100 MPs joining @FairElectionsUK's call to introduce proportional representation & restore trust in our broken democracy.
How can we be comfortable with a system that delivers landslides on little more than 1/3 of the vote?

Philip Duffy CEO of the @EnvAgency signs off on the EA pension fund making a £37,063,000 investment in, wait for it, wait for it, yes; water companies!
You read that right. The EA has invested £37 million in the very companies it's supposed to police. 🤬

Well said @Labour4PR Hope other PR supporting MPs take note and use this in their arguements for PR @tomgordonLD@lukejcr@mvmyork@CompassOffice The arguments for FPTP are not sustainable. You know it and we know it...
🗣️Today, MPs elect their Deputy Speakers using Proportional Representation.
🗳️ We don't waste MPs' votes with an unfair First Past The Post voting system.
🔥 Why should we waste ours?
If PR is good enough for them, it's good enough for us.

Precisely that @FrancesMurphy_ It is our system but we need to change it. Way to win through FPTP is through co-operation. Reached out to engage with Ben Pickles but he didn't respond. @CompassOffice@WetherbyGreens. Hope ur happy about what co-operation delivered in H&K and YO?
2019 saw 2 prog tragedies in H&K and YO @FrancesMurphy_ Co-operation with Grns' LDs and Lab changed that. LDs and Lab each got an MP. What did Grns get? a bit of an increase in their vote share. That surely is ok? Fairness & Reciprocity @WetherbyGreens@CompassOffice
Hi @FrancesMurphy_ Lab would not have won even if Greens had stood aside. The split vote in W&E was more than just Grns. Cons won on only 39.7% of the vote. The real culprit is FPTP. Now we begin again the campaign to change that system. Hope you are happy abt wins in H&K and YO
The split progressive vote in Wetherby and Easingwold, allowing a Conservative win on only 39.7% of the vote, demonstrates that the real culprit is the FPTP electoral system. Now we begin anew the campaign to change that system.@CompassOffice@WetherbyGreens
Congratulations @WetherbyGreens re: Green vote in W&E 8.7%, building on the 2019 Green vote. Our endorsement of AW was an act of fairness and reciprocity for the tactical votes from Grns to @TomGordonLD in H&K and @Lukecjr in York Outer. @CompassOffice
Congratulations @lukejcr on a great GE win for Labour in York Outer. We endorsed you for your commitment to PR and encouraged LDs, Grns and others to vote tactically to see you elected. Thanks also due to @YorkGreens@yorklibdems for commitment to #WinAsOne@CompassOffice
@lukejcr congratulations! A great General Election win for Labour in York Outer. We endorsed you for your support of PR and encouraged LDs, Grns and others to vote tactically for you so we could all celebrate. Which we do! #WinAsOne@compassOffice@YorkGreens@yorklibdems
We endorsed @TomGordonLD for his commitment to PR. We encouraged tactical voting to support his election. This is evidence that collaboration btw progressive voters can help to achieve the political change the country needs. @CompassOffice@HarrogateLabour@HarrogateGreens
Labour's low vote share is "a big problem" "36%... it's barely more than a third of people voting for you" @RoryStewartUK
36% of the vote -> 63% of the seats -> 100% of the power.
Fair?
‘Labour may win big under first past the post, but it is morally obliged to bring in a fairer system’
“Labour should move fast [..] Set up a royal commission backed by citizens’ assemblies and enact a proportional system before the next election.” https://t.co/84je9Y93Lj
Fantastic canvassing sessions yesterday in Woodthorpe and Bishopthorpe.
A real sense people across the constituency want change and a Labour government to deliver it.
Vote Labour on 4th July! 🌹
