@bergeambe I love all the ppl saying the women don’t deserve more bc their league doesn’t make more as if that isn’t structural sexist right there! Their games haven’t historically been televised during high viewership hours, they haven’t been promoted and marketed like the men, etc, etc.
@SapphoDe@nowthisimpact That’s essentially her point: that being white and straight should not be assumed to be the norm or better than being not-white and not-straight. That everyone has equal value and should have access to same the opportunities, etc. But, such is not reality.
“Every time we turn our heads the other way when we see the law flouted, when we tolerate what we know to be wrong, when we close our eyes and ears to the corrupt because we are too busy or too frightened, when we fail to speak up and speak out, we strike a blow against freedom and decency and justice.”

@fredfernack@DrCarlHindy But there’s a huge difference between what is effectively state sanctioned abuse, and people committing crimes which they can then be held criminally accountable for.

@fredfernack@DrCarlHindy Secondly, as you mentioned, light has been shown onto abuses that have occurred within the mental health system, including atrocities related to racism. As a result, more and more guidelines and checks have been added to make sure that those atrocities are not occurring.
