I saw someone essentially say that pornographic/lewd Malfoid fanart is good because sex is the point of romance. THIS, I fear, is another example of the way pornography has damaged people. 🧵
That idea misses the entire point of the Malfoid trend at large. To be fair, Malfoid has gotten so big it broke containment and now means a lot of different things to a lot of different people. That being said, I think the vast majority of those who enjoy this trend agree that Malfoid isn’t about sex, it’s about yearning.
To yearn for something, to long for it, is to deeply and often melancholically desire it. That sense of melancholy often stems from the understanding that whatever the object of your desire is will be difficult to obtain. Men are yearning for Malfoid because finding a woman like her is incredibly difficult, but she’s worth it. People are writing stories, making art, and changing themselves for the better in an effort to even get close to the feeling of achievement - to get close to her.
Making pornographic art in this movement cheapens all of this. The object of desire becomes not the woman, but her body. The way to express this desire becomes not hard work and effort, but masturbation. Looking at images on a screen and allowing yourself to be titillated will poison your soul against improvement, and you will seek to get your jollies off however you can rather than by becoming the kind of man worthy of a Malfoid, or the kind of woman worthy of a Harry.
Certainly, it is true that Harry and Malfoid are sexually attracted to each other. It’s also true that the vast swaths of wonderful illustrators in this movement depict Malfoid as sexually attractive. But Malfoid being sexually attractive doesn’t innately reduce her to the point of objectification.
Beauty exists, and Malfoid is beautiful. This aspect of her character is a virtue - it’s something that men often find lacking in modern women. To be fair, it’s also a quality that women find lacking in modern men, so there’s blame to go around. But that’s why people have started going to the gym over this trend, in pursuit of beauty.
Beauty may also easily be corrupted. Because beauty is a virtue, it goes hand in hand with other virtues - love, self-control, modesty, etc. - and if any of these other virtues are lacking in a person, so too does their beauty. Portraying Malfoid as a loose woman, exposing herself and engaging in all kinds of indecency, makes her less beautiful. It may make her “hot” or otherwise “sexy”, but this is a pornographic debasing of her. Those depictions are not worth your desire.
Malfoid is modest, in both dress and in mannerism; of course she is, as the heiress to the Malfoy name. And the people who get the trend don’t portray her as a ditz or an airhead, but as a confident, even prideful woman (it’s worth noting that such depictions have her putting down her supremacist pride in her bloodline and accepting her love for Harry, humbling herself, which is a virtue).
Keep Malfoid modest. Yearn for something greater.
@ShamashAran I love this little scenario. Really minor critique, more of a nitpick, really, but since they're all British wouldn't they use Kilos or Stone as a form of measurement as opposed to our American pound? Enjoying your prose!
@AlbaLink We just have different ideas of what an "ideal solution" looks like lol
To me, in the ideal, no one would be gooning and so the art wouldn't exist. To you, you're thinking more practically, and talking about an "ideal scenario" given the reality that gooners be gooning
Beyond just that, it's a romantic and hopeful take on the current state of male/female relations. They're in the gutter.
No, that's not right. They're below the gutter, the sewer, through a few miles of dirt and rock, and are currently sitting at the gates of Hell.
Malfoid provides a romantic idea of "What if, despite all our differences and everything we've done to each other, we could forgive each other and fall in love? What if enemies-to-lovers wasn't just a trope but something we could have in our lives as well?"
Everyone wants that deep down. We have outside forces pulling us apart, forcing us to pick a side and constantly attack the other. We fight and we bicker about a war started long ago with no idea as to who fired the first shot.
At the end of the day, when we crawl into bed alone and drift off to sleep, all we want is someone there beside us.
I can only hope that Malfoid plays a small part in healing that divide.
Don't worry about yapping, you're good. It's interesting to get your perspective as you're a very different audience than who I, as a religious conservative, was expecting for this post. Glad you're here, friend, thanks for sharing your thoughts!
I think you're absolutely correct, that the Malfoid trend represents an ideal that people see, want, but because of how degraded our culture has become they are blackpilled and are convinced that they will never attain it. But, as you rightly stated, self-improvement is important if you even want to try. I'm glad Malfoid has helped people start trying, my post encourages them to continue trying and to keep away from unhealthy behaviors.
Final thought here, here's a previous post I made to someone else - Twitter has a couple options that should make it possible for you to type your entire thread all in one go and post it all at once rather than having to wait between your posts. Hope this helps!

A few things -
(1) yeah I completely get not paying for premium. I only started recently because Malfoid posting had me hyped enough to want to not to have to wait between each post lol. Splitting it into seven parts is funny considering we’re talking about Harry Potter.
(2) because I was on the free version for so long, I have a couple tips so you can avoid doing that in the future. Firstly, you can type out your entire thought first because Twitter doesn’t allow you to post it, but you can still have the completed thought with just a bunch of negative characters. There’s should also be a + symbol next to the reply button you might be able to click on - this allows you to create multiple posts in a row before you send the entire thread. If you don’t see that, then try expanding the textbox. Like I share in the photo below. Hopefully this helps you make posts like this in the future without having to wait between each post.
(3) Overall, it’s a story I could enjoy. I really like the idea you and other people have had that Harry feels terrible that he did it in the first place. I also like these other ideas people have had in the other photos I shared. Keep yearning man! ✌️

"As George Orwell said, ‘freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two is four. If that is granted, all else follows.’ If a man can be a woman, there is no such thing as a woman."
Ugh I’ve had the displeasure of learning what the word “mudshark” means towards a person.. Why are people so cruel? Why are there “Christian” men calling women this for dating someone of a different race? (Even if they’re Christian) Why are people so racist and vile? This is disgusting. Do you seriously think that Jesus would be okay with using discriminatory language towards others? Could you stand before God and seriously try to justify language similar to this in front of our almighty father? Obviously not. We should be building others up, not tearing others down. It doesn’t matter what someone’s skin color is, we are all Gods beautiful creation AND we all fall short, we all are equally flawed. No wonder so many Christian women want to remain single if this is what much of the dating poll looks like. (If I wasn’t happily married already) I’d rather die alone than date someone who is this vile with their words towards others. Anyway rant over lol
Here’s a few out of hundreds of verses that talk about how we should treat others.
Ephesians 4:29
Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Galatians 6:10
So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.
Galatians 5:22
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness
Micah 6:8
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Romans 12:10
Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.
1 John 3:17
But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him?
Leviticus 19:34
You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
@EthosHeretica@steakdriven It's almost as though they become comfortable with lust so long as what they're lusting for is something worthy of their desire. In reality, lust itself is disordered, and they're too porn-brained to be disgusted with themselves.
@steakdriven@EthosHeretica I really wish we could unite in saying that, but look at some of the replies to my pinned post about the sexualization of the trend. Some people love the dark.
@EthosHeretica@steakdriven I could personally do without all the in-fighting in the Malfoid space but it's Twitter so we'll take what we can get I guess
@EthosHeretica Imagine though a world in which Rowling acknowledges it, agrees with it, and rewrites the whole story because of it. Never gonna happen, but it would be super cool lol
@Kuriboh_and_tie I don’t even think that Harry necessarily needs to snap so much as just not realizing what sectumsempra does. In my headcanon he realizes pretty quick that he messed up and feels bad about it
I don't even think that they have seen each other as enemies for the past 6 years. In my headcanon, they went to the Yule Ball together, and in The Order of the Phoenix they were potentially feeling a little awkward around each other yet acknowledged that they have feelings for one another, but Voldemort fundamentally is the catalyst that causes a rift between them. Lucius Malfoy is thrown into Azkaban at the end of Book 5, and Voldemort forces Malfoid to become a death eater. This causes Malfoid to push Harry away, and throughout Book 6 Harry discovers that the woman he had feelings for is now helping the man who killed his parents, Sirius Black, Cedric Diggory, and many, many others. He tries to get an explanation but Malfoid continues to keep distance between them, and this cumulates in the Sectumsempra scene where Harry uses the spell on her not realizing what it does.
It's important to note here that I think you may be taking the whole term of "enemies" a little too strongly here. Harry is trained in combat magic, he trains up Dumbledore's Army in Order of the Phoenix after all. Perhaps to him "enemy" means little more than "combatant". It's not necessary that Harry actually harbor's animosity towards Malfoid during this scene, but I like the inclusion of the scene regardless.
Any romance story between Harry and Malfoid that cannot overcome Sectumsempra, that cannot overcome the point at which Harry sees her as an enemy, is not a romance story worth aspiring to.
You're conflating and purposely miscommunicating elements of traditional story telling with Deconstruction.
You even use nonsense word pairings "Deconstruction of Idealism" as if Dragging things to the mundane (Literally what deconstruction is) is reflective of any sort of Ideal.
Deconstruction is when elements of the real world intrude to bring down the suppositions and expectations of a story into a modern sensibility... it is when, after a happily ever after, someone introduces complications to the lives that are mired in the modern age worries and apprehensions, in order to proximate it to their audience rather than allow the story to elevate the urges and expectations of the audience.
Pain, suffering and overcoming difficulty in a relationship... is a VIRTUOUS CYCLE, that when integrated into a story, teach the audience that these things need not be the end... and they need not be mired within them, that they can overcome such things and become stronger, better and more virtuous through that effort and difficulty.
Classic Romance was *NEVER* about a perfect, ideal arc where no trials or tribulations were overcome; that is you twisting the original meaning of such stories to fit your narrative to justify the ugly portions of story darkness being removed.
Thank you Skeletor
I don't know that I've seen any of these "baptism doesn't matter" types, but I have seen the types who emphasize that baptism is salvific and so a baptism they received as an infant has saved them meanwhile they live the life of a pagan.
Either way, I agree that there's really no good reason for a Christian who is capable of being baptized not doing so.
@EthosHeretica Lots of people in my mentions who are unabashedly proud of their self-destructive behavior. Glad you understand it at least.
