@Kristen60433309@KIN110UofR Attendance would drop for sure. Just think, if there was allowed to be fighting in golf or tennis, I feel like those sports would be more popular. And people like to drink socially at sporting events, not having that option would also suffer for attendance.
@wurm_joel@KIN110UofR Owners should be minding their own business and not interfering with the players. They should be cheering on their team and that’s it. It makes the team look bad when the owner gets into an altercation with another player.
@ARajsigl@KIN110UofR This was an act of violence because hitting someone in the head can cause long term cognitive impairments for that player especially with how much concussions are being seriously dealt with now
@Abby63230033 @KIN110UofR It would still be sports but it would be less exciting to spectators. There are sports that have no violence but those tend to be not as popular when compared to football, hockey, etc.
@JuanVar62551361@KIN110UofR It comes down to the coaches. If they find out that players are hazing other players on the team, they should bench them. They will learn that it’s not effective for team building and that it doesn’t display any leadership.
@BriannaSwyryda@KIN110UofR MMA for sure, especially in a competitive setting like the UFC. You are trying to kill your opponent with punches, knees, elbows, kicks, submissions, knock outs etc.
@KIN110UofR Please retweet this. Continuing the conversation from class, was the Myles Garrett helmet hit on Mason Rudolph considered quasi-criminal violence or criminal violence? #violenceinsport
@NoahSorrell4 @KIN110UofR There are some banned substances in supplements such as pre workout that a lot of athletes don’t know about prior to taking them. If that’s the case, then he should be. If it was something like EPO or hGH, then I wouldn’t consider him for a nomination.
@BodnarMakayla @KIN110UofR I don’t consider it a PED. It induces effects that can impair judgement and reaction time while also being a catalyst for anxiety in some people. Many use it to relax their muscles and nervous system post-recovery, but during high intensity sport performance it is conflicting.
@KIN110UofR A study looked at the crime rates between the general population and the NFL. The general population almost doubles the crime rate compared to the NFL but found that more violent crimes were committed by NFL players #KIN110Fall2019 https://t.co/QT4P5HIIEr
@ThacksC @KIN110UofR To me it is deviant behavior because they are faking an injury in order to gain the upper hand on their opponent. Some say it’s strategy but to me it is unfair and is getting more attention on whether it should be banned or not.
@KIN110UofR Here’s an interesting article about retired athletes and their advice on how to properly invest money. Spend your money wisely and have a second job lined up in case of injuries. #KIN110Fall2019 https://t.co/35VJ7nBWQK
@KIN110UofR@TC_Africa I didn’t know it that racism was that bad in hockey. I can see hockey either becoming more multicultural due to the projections made that a 1/3 of Canada will be non-Caucasian. I can also see hockey becoming less popular due to rise of other cultural sports being introduced here.
@senecalkin110@KIN110UofR I feel like the network would feel the pressure even if he did apologize the next day. He offended a lot of people and the network had to do something otherwise it would tarnish their image and reputation. If he didn’t say “you people” it would be a different story.
@KIN110UofR We need to teach females at a young age empowerment and also teaching males at a young age that both men and women can be great leaders for our future. As they get older, teaching them how to network. This will increase opportunities and enhance leadership skills.
@KIN110UofR Yes, norms of masculinity are changing. We see a lot of men like Cam Newton for example, emphasize their fashion. Back then it wouldn’t be “manly” to care about how you dress. Now a lot of men in sports are dressing how they want before and after games to express themselves.
@KIN110UofR The government should implement better education for health and wellness in school. I noticed back in elementary and high school, health classes would always answer the “what”. They should start incorporating more on the “how” and the “why” you should care about your health.
