For years I’ve been selling and buying on FB Marketplace. I’ll sell my kids lightly used clothes and use the money to buy the next size up. It was meager, but a good hustle while it lasted. I’ve saved our family so much money by doing this.

Now the Meta algo is so bad that I’ll post 20 ads of dirt cheap bundles with pro photos and not a single view for weeks. I’ll have one day a month where my phone blows up with “Is this available?” messages and one sale. I shipped my first Marketplace order yesterday and now I’m waiting to find out if I’ll be scammed with a chargeback or refund request.

So I decided to log into my 24 year old eBay account where I’ve sold about 200 random things over the years.

Nope! They gave me a sales limit of $10 a month. I asked for a customer service human to call me back a few hours ago. Still no call.

10 years ago I did really well selling my handmade jewelry on Etsy until Chinese scammers starting replicating my designs. Now Etsy is overflowing with scammers and Temu junk. I rarely post my original designs online anymore for fear of them being reproduced.

I’m convinced there’s an agenda to shut down little side hustles. I’m tired of spending so much time researching ways to trick the algorithm while AI slop gets millions of clicks.
