The UK should not be platforming artists who spread hate.
CAA has written to the organisers of Reading Festival @OfficialRandL, regarding the inclusion of Northern Irish rap group Kneecap in its lineup next month.
Kneecap has repeatedly been associated with rhetoric and conduct widely condemned as antisemitic and supportive of proscribed terrorist organisations.
High-profile cultural events have a responsibility to exercise judgment over who they choose to promote. For a festival that prides itself on inclusivity and community, the decision to host Kneecap is profoundly at odds with the values it claims to champion.
We will continue to write to all venues and festivals where Kneecap is scheduled to perform.
Anabels nightclub in the posh Burlington Hotel in Dublin 4, was supposed to be the kind of place "nice" young people went, according to gobshites who think wealth is a reflection of moral value.
In the early hours of 31 August 2000 a row broke out after a debs night, the kind of scrap that happens all to often outside clubs every weekend Dublin only this one ended with 18 year old Brian Murphy dead on Sussex Road. He'd been brutally kicked and punched while he was helpless on the ground. The cause of death was recorded as cerebral oedema and asphyxiation.
Brian Murphy was there with a friend and he'd recently finished his Leaving Cert. He was working a summer job in Brown Thomas. Earlier that evening, he mentioned to a mate he felt a bit uneasy about potentially running into a group of lads he previously had hassle with. But everything went ok inside that night. The situation changed dramatically around 3:00 AM as the venue closed and crowds spilled out onto the street.
Outside on Sussex Road, groups of teenagers loited, engaging in what was described as rowdy horseplay that quickly turned hostile. A sudden altercation broke out involving Brian and a group of up to ten iyoungfellas. The confrontation turned vicious as Brian was surrounded and they started battering him, punching him until he collapsed and then kicking him
The entire violent mercilless frenzy was over in under five minutes. Friends immediately ran to Brian's side as the group of cowards scattered. He was unconscious and bloody, they moved him across the road to safety and called for an ambulance shortly after 3:10 AM.
He was rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. Brian Murphy died hours later from severe brain swelling and airway obstruction resulting from facial trauma.
Four young men were eventually charged with his manslaughter and violent disorder. Dermot Laide, Sean Mackey, Desmond Ryan and Andrew Frame. Three of the four had gone to one of Dublin's most expensive schools Blackrock College.
The trial didnt start till 2004 and became a national obsession. Court 23 was packed every day.And people started to notice the distinct undercurrant of sympathy for these "nice" affluent young defendants both in the court proceedings and in some circles of society. The tone of the narrative was these lads were from "good homes" and so Brian Murphys horrific death mustve been a few moments of drunken madness.
Dermot Laide was convicted of manslaughter and violent disorder, and got four years. Sean Mackey got two years for violent disorder. Desmond Ryan got nine months and Andrew Frame was acquitted outright. Laide then appealed and won, and his manslaughter conviction was quashed in 2005. Ryan's conviction was overturned too due to an invalid search warrant.
A retrial was ordered for Laide, but by 2006 the DPP pulled the plug, citing "evidential problems" due to conflicting medical testimony regarding the precise cause of death alongside witness complications. He walked free still insisting he never caused Brian's death.
A coroner's inquest finally closed the book in 2007, returning a verdict of unlawful killing. Anabel's itself is long gone. The Burlington Hotel was extensively refurbished and renamed the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road. But the response by our legal system and parts of our society to the unlawful killing of 18 year old Brian Murphy that night in 2000 exposed an ugly reality about class and privilege and who Irish society finds it easiest to forgive which is still sadly relevant today.

Wow! @GaryLineker really hit all the high notes in his appearance on the "Palestine Deep Dive" podcast.
❌ "I think they're a rogue state". Yes, we know Gary. You are obsessed with the only Jewish state. Funny that.
❌ Sepp Blatter has never called for Israel to be banned. Gary is referring to a tweet from the former FIFA boss this past April and there is no mention of Israel being banned.
❌ Gary did used to tweet about Israel before October 7. Infamously, Lineker lamented the death of a "Palestinian footballer" in December 2022 and it turned out to be a Hamas fighter.
Does he even know he mourned an Al Qassam fighter who was draped in a Hamas flag at his funeral. "How awful".
❌ "I would always get attacked there. Usually by people in the IDF." LOL. How big does he think the Israeli army is? Does Lineker actually think the IDF, with no shortage of threats on its borders, is worried about his Tweets?!
❌ "It was an apartheid... and it's worse than that now." Oh ffs do piss off with these lies! Two million Arabs live here with the same rights as everyone else you clown! 🤡
Gary campaigns for a "Free Palestine" - now that will be an actual apartheid state. A Judenrein Free environment. These clueless idiots just don't see their own ignorance!
❌ "They were living in an open-air prison". More lies. More untruths. This smells like a defence for the invasion massacre of 7/10/23. Gross.
❌ "Everything was controlled by another country." Bit harsh on Egypt but I am sure Gary knows Gaza shares a border with Egypt?! Right?!
❌ "So many footballers lost their lives." Gary Lineker has absolutely no idea that so many of these "footballers" have now been claimed by Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
He just doesn't know this. It has not hit his algorithm. It literally won't ever be presented to him.
Lineker lies about Israel to such an extent that there is only one conclusion to draw from this and his daily output on Instagram where he demonizes one country and one country only.
I note that the @OxfordUnion has chosen not to publish the debate on Islam which they invited me to be part of. Instead, they appear to have given their footage to Middle East Eye to release a very selectively edited 6 minute clip. This is entirely against the agreement we made with them.
The hypocrisy here is shocking
I know parents across the country who’ve raised issues with both schools and the Department of Education over books and gender ideology. They’re repeatedly dismissed or ignored.
Yet when questioned about books on the reading list containing inappropriate sexual content, Norma Foley suddenly says it’s a matter for parents.
Which is it?
Are parents the decision makers when it comes to what their children are exposed to, or are they to be dismissed when they object?
You can’t claim parents have a choice while your department approves the curriculum and parents repeatedly say their concerns are being brushed aside.
Then, when Ben continues to ask perfectly reasonable questions, she walks away.
Irish politicians have developed a disgusting habit of treating scrutiny as an inconvenience. If you can’t defend your decisions, you shouldn’t be making them.
We need to stop electing numpties who think walking away is an acceptable substitute for answering questions.
These are the three protesters who were hanged in Iran yesterday. One was disabled.
The media said nothing.
The voices of universal dignity and international justice said nothing.
The outraged lost no sleep.
The streets held no protest.
The socialist mayors filmed no speeches.
Murdered Iranians don’t fit the white oppressor narrative, so the world ignores the worst atrocities the mind can fathom.
I’m glad that makes you uncomfortable. Maybe it will finally wake you up to what the rest of us had to learn through betrayal:
Humanity is the greatest lie of our time.
No, Mehdi. Just making jokes at the expense of the dipshits spreading blood libels, thereby making peace in the Middle East harder to come by, and prolonging the suffering of Palestinians.
Mehdi’s position deserves *nothing* but mockery as it is completely unserious.
Absolute nonsense Mehdi. You are a victim of group think, mechanistic ideology and most importantly unwittingly complicit in Big Pharma fraud. Happy to debate you on this any place, anywhere, any time.
Helen McEntee is right. Israeli extremist attacks on Palestinians on the West Bank are deplorable, must end & those responsible shld be prosecuted. So are Palestinian terrorist attacks on Israelis but no mention of them.
Iran has just executed 3 young protesters against its barbaric regime & more executions expected. Total silence.
So much for the credibility of our EU priorities to defend human rights & the rule of law. Just morally bankrupt selective political attention seeking .
How about a statement on the situation in Iran & the refusal of Hamas & Hezbollah to disarm? Is that not part of the brief?
This is the angriest I have ever allowed myself to get in a public appearance. The falsehoods, question-begging, arrogance, ignorance and sheer dumbness - not to mention the constant talking over - were INFURIATING. Enjoy! https://t.co/EoJ1QBFO6J
That’s a wrap for our puberty blockers hearing.
Judgment will be handed down at the Royal Courts of Justice at 2pm this Friday.
In that judgment, it will be decided whether we have permission to proceed to a full judicial review and whether our application to block recruitment of children has succeeded.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us thus far. Keeping everything crossed that justice and child safeguarding are upheld.
What a surprise! Another big, crooked Communist funding monster, and it's tied to the Soviet-created Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine!
