China has put its first intelligent grain-leveling robot to work at a Sinograin depot in Beijing, taking over one of the dustiest, most exhausting jobs in grain storage. Spiral-bladed wheels carry it across loose grain without sinking, while laser radars and a central route planner keep a team of robots from colliding. Three robots can level a 1,400-square-metre granary in under a day, a job that took three workers three days.

Chinese private launch firm Galactic Energy flew its medium-lift PALLAS-1 rocket for the first time on 1 September 2026, lifting off at 10am Beijing time from the Dongfeng commercial space innovation pilot zone at Jiuquan and reaching its designated orbit. The 52 metre, two stage vehicle runs seven in-house CQ-50 kerosene and liquid oxygen engines that throttle from 32 to 105 percent of rated thrust, the deep throttling range a booster needs to slow itself down and land. No recovery was attempted on this flight, with grid fins and landing legs due on later missions.
