Learn to control the barrel. There’s a reason great hitters train like this. It’s not because they want to hit back side grounders in a game. It’s because staying inside and through the ball are old terms that still ring true today’s game.
Arguments over buzz words date back to the dinosaurs. As usual, this phrase can be good for some hitters & detrimental to others, especially detrimental when not used properly. Put 10 coaches in a room & ask them to describe 'Ready at release', you'll get 10 different theories
'Ready at release' - Tension, control and ability to launch at release. Not needing to shift into the front leg for stability. Not needing to rotate pelvis into front leg for stability. Trout's lower half is fully ready at release. We aren't looking for foot down and hands back.
When the rear leg & lower half isn't in this phase at release, there is going to be movements that require time to get the slack out prior to being able to actually launching your swing. Time is not something we have the luxury of. Lose total control over launch and timing
If your main objective is bat speed, we can create higher bat speeds via movements and patterns that impact in-game hitting negatively. So many factors within impacting a baseball that bat speed doesn’t solve on its own and can be detrimental when that’s where the search begins.
45 games into the season & everyone thinks they can fix big leaguers that are going through normal issues. However this is the realest post I’ve seen in a while. HOW WE CREATE BAT SPEED MATTERS. It matters for path & direction, it matters for impact. Just having a goal of more bat speed is fools gold.

Everyone’s got a theory on Tatis. Steroids. Timing. Approach. Confidence. But if bat speed is still up… and exit velo is still high… why isn’t the power showing up? That’s where this gets interesting. I think there’s another layer people are missing. Watch the video.
@LegKickNationOG@CoachJeffLeach I did the same thing. There’s no engagement. So many people with open minds got ran off and an influx of farmers came in. There’s so much bad content out there and 0 space to learn and discuss. 💰 & 🗑️
Javy Baez 🧵: We've seen the chase for years. There is certainly some mechanical issues that don't help but there is also a clear APPROACH issue. Either he has no real approach, a bad approach or just doesn't stick to the plan.
When I make the "swinging zone" smaller, willing to take strikes and not give into umpires zones, I chase less. Would Baez ever have as good of an eye at the plate as Soto, no. But he would likely improve in all aspects of hitting because of it. Stay convicted to YOUR zone.
Listen to great hitters talk about their swing and then relate it to what you see on video rather than dismiss it because you "see" different. You see what you want to see.
@hittingguru7@flowsdoc Breathing out like that also braces the core, which allows for much more control and connection in rotation. If your core is relaxed you're in trouble. Not debating your thought, just adding some additional context.
