I think that if you’re going to write a piece in the Times urging the government to use and boost more AI, the fact that you are paid by a major AI company should be in the first sentence, or at least first paragraph.
I also think that the best scenario for AI is that it destroys millions of jobs with the prosperity, dignity and community that goes with them.
The worst scenario is the destruction of the human race - a fear openly expressed by an increasing number of senior and experienced AI engineers who are leaving the industry.
And somewhere in between a myriad of horrors such as yet more screen learning and screen addiction for our children.
But I do see that it will make rich men even richer. And that’s the most important thing of course.
A massive day for Manchester! The city's longest continuous cycle lane is now complete! 🎉
You can now ride entirely on protected cycle lanes from Deansgate to Chorlton
A huge win for safe, healthy and sustainable travel.
This year, the Christmas tree at @CambsCC New Shire Hall was beautifully decorated with white ribbons.
The White Ribbon campaign is doing fantastic work to end violence, with a focus on engaging men and boys.
Most of us will have a lovely time at home over Christmas and New Year. But home is not always a safe place for everyone. Remember that charities and council services are there to support people if they need it during the break.
Have a Merry Christmas!
The final Winter Wheeler event is TONIGHT at Ely train station from 4-7pm. Thanks to Camcycle volunteers for supporting the bike-marking and lights fitting 👏
@hopsncheese As with the Cambridge one, it needs inverted triangles on the exits. There’s v little to indicate drivers should give way. Get lobbying the DfT, Sheffield, to allow for them on Dutch roundabouts
It's interesting how when you mention that a portion of the population would happily cycle all the time if safe options were available, the comments quickly escalate and assume that everyone must cycle everywhere all the time
Councillors at @CambsCC’s Highways & Transport Committee have voted 9-5 IN FAVOUR of a new bus gate on Mill Road bridge.
Thank you so much to everyone who has campaigned for this and helped to achieve a better, safer street.
We're at New Shire Hall in Alconbury this morning with a group of speakers all here to speak in favour of a bus gate on Mill Road bridge in Cambridge.
You can read the agenda here: https://t.co/jkKd5TcrkJ and follow the livestream at https://t.co/SFMc1iBpRg
Thanks for your interest in our project, @hilarybennmp! We hope you'll support extending voting rights to all residents, specially in Northern Ireland. #LabourConference24
Cities are struggling for space. As the number of residents continually grows, there is increasing competition for a limited amount of public space.
Replacing cars with bicycles creates more room for green areas and for people to meet each other.

“There are only a certain number of cars which can sensibly fit onto our roads at any one time” – @OxfordshireCC’s highways chief Andrew Gant talks exclusively to the Oxford Clarion about LTNs, traffic filters and safe routes to school https://t.co/2ct7pYl6So
"The future of cycling is actually not so much about cycling, but about the future of cities.
Cycling is not the goal in itself; it's a fantastic transformational tool to make cities more resilient, sustainable, social, safe, wealthy, healthy and happy."

There’s a proverb in Naples about people who don’t necessarily know much but like to sound like experts when things are easy. It goes quando il mare è calmo ogni strunz e marenar, or “when the sea is calm, every asshole is a sailor”
