@HoraceGladston4@SabrinaStuartDS Cyrus hoped she was taking to Collinsport, after all. Their married life had yet to properly begin, but Cyrus had high hopes for it to flourish in his hometown. He smiled.

@HoraceGladston4@SabrinaStuartDS Before heading upstairs (to see his fiancée), Cyrus stowed the package in an unmarked safe downstairs. It was hidden behind a painting that he had bought from Mr. Claude North -- a local painter, and beau to Roxanne. Now, to check on Sabrina...

@HoraceGladston4@SabrinaStuartDS He handed the pen back to Gladstone, and then reached for the box on the table as if it were a precious valuable. In a way, it was. "...I very much appreciate your time." Cyrus was extending his other hand to Gladstone's, for a final handshake.

@HoraceGladston4@SabrinaStuartDS "Yes, of course..."
Cyrus signed and dated the documents, writing his name and surname in one long stroke of pen. Sabrina used to joke about his handwriting being illegible. Had she overheard anything, from upstairs?

@HoraceGladston4@SabrinaStuartDS "Sign off on some documents, perhaps?"
Cyrus didn't know whether Gladstone kept any record of his deliveries. He wouldn't presume -- but if Gladstone did, it would give an air of legitimacy to what was (essentially) an illegal trading scheme.

@HoraceGladston4@SabrinaStuartDS Cyrus gestured to an Erlenmeyer flask in one of the retort stands. It contained a fluid that was a sapphire shade of blue. As the two men approached it, Cyrus saw his reflection in the glass, and he looked away. "Now, is there anything else I can do for you...?"

@SabrinaStuartDS@HoraceGladston4 He delicately tried to backpedal on his words. What if they weren't well-received? He needed the man's confidence, of that much he was certain. "I know how much you went out of your way for this. Thank you."

@SabrinaStuartDS@HoraceGladston4 But the chemist was already here. And more importantly, he had something that Cyrus needed--desperately. "I hope you'll forgive the mess...I must admit that I rather gave up the idea that you would be coming in tonight. I was mistaken, of course..."

@HoraceGladston4 Luckily for him, his fiancée meant to retire early that night. Cyrus felt himself relax as she ascended the staircase to their shared bedroom on the building’s second floor. The lab animals kept him company as he continued to wait for the other scientist.

@HoraceGladston4 But it was only Sabrina; back from an outing with Elizabeth. They had been to the opera, in Bangor…per Cyrus’s suggestion. Sabrina wasn’t meant to be back this early. He smiled, giving her a restrained peck on the cheek as he hung her coat for her.

@MasterCollinsPT@MrsMaggieColl@Trask1970PT@JuliaDHoffmanPT How well he understood Quentin in that moment; how well indeed. “Anyhow, you’ve done more than enough for me. You’ve given me a job, I enjoy. Financial security—Sabrina and I truly appreciate it.” How generous Quentin was with his close friends! It felt a privilege.

@MasterCollinsPT@MrsMaggieColl@Trask1970PT@JuliaDHoffmanPT “Quentin—you’re not the only one who has made mistakes. I’ve made my share of them, as well…” he thought about the disastrous second seance that was held, per his own advice. Sabrina could have been killed. He looked at the hand on his shoulder, then looked away…
