The members of @DCPoliceUnion wish everyone a safe, healthy and Merry Christmas.
Special Thanks to all first responders who must be away from their families this Christmas to keep our streets safe.
Also, please send prayers for our 1D officer who remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle on I-695 two nights ago.
The USPP FOP applauds @SecretaryBurgum for cutting out the red tape!!! Removing @NatlParkService from our chain of command - with our complex mission - will ensure our brave FOP officers have the resources they need to get the job done! https://t.co/gUroCThXs9
Today marks one year since MPD Investigator Wayne David died in the line of duty after a gun he was retrieving from a storm drain went off.

There is only one way to fix crime in DC. We must repeal the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act.
An Op-Ed from @DCPoliceUnion
https://t.co/t6ix7eCb2H
These charts say that 72% of residents think crime is at least “a serious problem” and that half of residents are worried about being a victim of crime at any given moment. Not exactly the Mayberry you’re seeking to portray.
DC crime since the announcement of federal control versus the 7 days prior:
Robbery ⬇️46%
ADW ⬇️6%
Carjacking ⬇️83%
Car Theft ⬇️21%
Violent Crime ⬇️22%
Property Crime ⬇️6%
All Crimes⬇️8%
While federal assistance gives us a boost, we must repeal the misguided Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act in order to make these changes permanent.
Today, the United States Park Police dropped below 500 sworn officers - far fewer officers than we had in the early 1970s. The White House and @Interior have tasked us with “Making DC Safe and Beautiful Again;” however, nothing has been done to fix our staffing crisis! #HR1260
Assault a law enforcement officer, and you’ll be prosecuted.
This guy thought it was funny—well, he doesn’t think it’s funny today, because we charged him with a felony.
Last night, DC suffered the grave milestone of its 100th homicide for 2025. Let’s hope this federal intervention leads to real change to the laws in DC that allow this to happen year after year.
Violent crime in DC is way up—residents & visitors are right to be concerned. The @POTUS wants USPP to secure the city, but our staffing has plummeted—now the lowest since the early ’70s. We’ve warned @SecretaryBurgum & Congress for months. Only @RepNicole has acted. #HR1260
.@DCPoliceUnion Chairman Gregg Pemberton: "We completely agree with the President that crime in the District of Columbia is out of control and something needs to be done with it."
Our proud FOP members put their lives on the line to make DC Safe and Beautiful! @POTUS, @GOPoversight and @SecretaryBurgum need to support our Officers by enacting #HR1260 NOW!!!! Our recruitment and retention crisis endangers the officers/public! #BackTheBlue like you mean it!
Hilarious article @fox5dc. Your “criminal law expert” Donte Mills failed to realize we charge crimes through the D.C. Court System, not U.S. District court - the same as D.C. Police. We share the same authority as our @DCPoliceUnion brothers and sisters. https://t.co/R1SjrIlnCS
The reason that there is so much attention on law enforcement and crime in DC is because in 2020, @charlesallen championed some of the most anti-police legislation in the country. Five years later, the MPD now has only ~3,000 cops with more than 800 vacancies for the position of sworn officer and crime has doubled from pre-2020 levels.
Tell @councilofdc to repeal the Comprehensive Policing and Justice Reform Act NOW!

The DC Police Union is saddened to announce the passing of 6D Officer Demond James, who passed away today. With over 23 years of service to MPD, Officer James was deeply respected by his peers, friends, and family. Please keep them in your thoughts during this challenging period.
